Government stiffs nuclear workers - Sickening story
Edited on Mon Jul-21-08 03:02 PM by XOKCowboy
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/jul/20/deadly-denial/

Since 2000 (imagine that) our government has been delaying and denying claims for those dying from illnesses they got fighting the Cold War.

The Americans who built the nation's nuclear weapons are still fighting a cold war.

Tens of thousands of sick nuclear arms workers — or their survivors — from every state in the nation have applied for compensation that Congress established for them in 2000. But most have never seen a dime.

Congress promised these Cold War patriots an efficient, compassionate path to atonement. But a Rocky Mountain News investigation found that the government has derailed aid to workers by keeping reports secret from them, constantly changing rules and delaying cases until sick workers died.

Many ill workers have become mired in a process so adversarial that top program officials at one point considered putting some of them under government surveillance — spying on them.

It gets worse and very graphic.

1. It could be any one of us with all the poison they allow to be spewed into our air
each minute of everyday for decades now.

My heart breaks for these poor souls. How terribly hurt and disillusioned they must have become finally knowing that their "government" would allow them to suffer so horribly. for their loyalty.

It may be almost time to find another country, I'm getting soo tired.

2. Rocky Flats is upwind and upstream from Denver
The way the government has lied about safety and security at the highly polluted former plutonium processing plant, one has to wonder just how safe it still is and just what every wind storm is spreading.
