Lest you think we forgot you, this post is for you
Relaxing tonight I watched videos from star wars clips to the Lord of the Rings.

Epic battles, major heroes, giant battles that decide the outcome of the universe.

Life though, is no movie. Each day people do things that are major battles to them.

Each day good people give a part of their life to battle some 'evil' or other - by being a volunteer, a care giver, someone who writes their politician, making phone calls, writing letters, or even replying to a post to give someone a little boost of hope - or making them feel less lonely.

You won't have a movie made about you, or a book written inspired by your simple deeds like picking up a few extra groceries at the store and giving them to someone in need. When you clean up after someone who is really sick just to make their day better, their won't be much if anything ever said about it.

You are not yoda, Luke Skywalker, or a hobbit who will be remembered forever and yet never really existed.

Your deeds are real though, and the real heroes in our lives often go forgotten.

While you may not have a major impact on the lives of others, you do where it counts. Day to day.

That moment in time you took out of your life to do something for someone else, when you did not have to, tells me all I need to know about you.

From the janitor who returns a wallet, to the home bound and sick who post a simple message to someone hurting trying to make them feel better, to those in the medical field and more.

Thank you.

15. I love your posts, straight. You make me want to do things. Even
if you just give some fruit to someone else, you do good. (I have so damned many cheeries I can't give them away fast enough. I would email you some if I could.) If you get up resolved to do three good things each day, what a great world this would be. I am reminded of Sam Gamgee's speech in the LOTR about how there is 'some good in this world'. Thank you for this, sweetie.

13. I'm Okay
An incurable insomniac still.Good thing I don't have to get up early today.Sun's gonna rise pretty soon and I have got to force myself to get some sleep again..Sometimes I cannot sleep until dawn breaks. So I pass time.Try to sleep, can't, go online, fart around, try laying down again.Sometimes I give up and just stay up until the next night,by than I can crash earlier. And get good sleep..I am told it is because hypervilagence has forced my brain into a nocturnal sleep pattern. They told me it is nearly impossible to undo it.I think they're right because I have been a night owl forever it seems. But I like the night anyway, more peaceful, less shit going around and less stress, moonlight is gentle on the eyes..
How are you??I really thought your OP was sweet. And You are even sweeter for writing it.

4. You are a class act.
Sometimes here on DU we get so caught up in our ideologies we forget to hold each other up.

With all you have going on, thanks for taking time to check in and say something positive and inspiring.

Hope your wife had a good day to day and has more of them one day at a time.

I deeply appreciate the time you took to write such a wonderful reply. Really needed it tonight.

9. After reading a couple of negative threads
I was about to leave the DU, but am glad I saw this thread. Thank heaven for those such as yourself who take the time to write something to lift the spirits of those like me who need it so much. By the powers that be bless you for this.

10. It was inspired by wife
And her desire to post a thread about care givers and what they meant to people.

11. Then thank her for me.
I have always been the caregiver but now am on my last leg and have to be taken care of. Of course, I still serve a purpose in this life, but just not the one that I once did. No longer independent, I hate having to depend on others for my needs. But your post reminded me of several things that I did today for others by just being someone they could call and talk to. It made me feel better about myself and this is one of those days that I really needed that.

So you and your wife must consider yourselfs those who help others.

16. I have an idea
I'm not altogether new here, actually, I was here a long time ago in the beginning of things but left because of the negativity which seems is still rampant. Well, maybe rampant is too strong of a word - I dislike negativity intensely.

Anyway, rather than pack up and go, wonder if the dark can be at least balanced by the light?

17. I wasn't leaving for good,
only for the night. But I agree that we need to have a little more light around here. Perhaps I need to hang out at the lounge for a couple of days. :)

12. Thank you.
Sometimes it's harder to live humbly for something than to die gloriously for it. Relieving suffering strikes me as the best cause to devote myself to - it's become my religion, as well as my profession.

Thank you for reminding me of that.

And hug that wife of yours. You're both remarkable people, and we need more like you.
