WORCESTER, Mass. --
Drivers lined up to buy gas at a Worcester gas station Tuesday morning
when the operator starting selling the fuel at cut-rate prices at 7 a.m.

The Gulf gas station at 528 Pleasant Street was planning to sell gas for
$1.99 a gallon until 1 p.m. courtesy of Marlborough-based Digital Federal
Credit Union, which sponsored the "roll-back" in prices in an effort to
thank the community. The station has been selling regular unleaded gas for $3.97 a gallon.
At that price it would cost close to $60 to fill a 15-gallon tank.
The one-day-only rollback is a welcome change for many drivers considering
the American Automobile Association says the state average for a gallon of
regular is $4.05.
"I don't work, so every cent counts right now," said one motorist who was
lined up waiting to buy gas.
"This fill-up will probably last me a good month. I'm a stay-at-home mom,
a housewife, so I think so," said another woman waiting to buy.
A police detail was brought in as the line of purchasers began to grow
before the station even opened.
Damn! I wish I had heard about this last night!
I'm sure the line is to long now. :(
