Photo of a detainee held by the United States, with his face wired, lips sewn...
This is horrible!

"Photo of a detainee held by the United States, with his face wired, lips sewn, red eyes and torso sacked. According to digital camera metadata the image was taken on Feb 9, 2003 03:49:25. The 6 Aug 2004 is also mentioned in relation to this photo. The facial wiring is clearly non-medical. The location of the detainee is unknown, possibly the US Bagram Theater Internment Facility in Afghanistan. Although there is a resemblance to the US Taliban supporter John Walker Lindh, the connection is superficial. The negative image to the right was created by Wikileaks to draw attention to certain regions of the photo on the left. Wikileaks staff have verified that the photograph came from a US military computer network."

US Government = Barbarians! :grr:

2. Link? Details?
The Wikileaks post is dated today, and a quick Google search didn't get me anything related.

I just want to get confirmation before I decide whether to forward these images.

3. There have been several DU threads about it. I can't do a search because my donation
hasn't been delivered yet (no star)...maybe you can scroll through a few pages from yesterday and the day before...
wish I could help more.

5. Will we ever know?

I mean it seems sketchy that somebody would be able to tie the knot on their own lips. But for searching DU, use google.

4. About 5 years ago Afghan asylum seekers were doing this
to themselves as part of hunger strikes

"As many as 40 Afghan asylum seekers, some of whom sewed their lips together last week"

11. No, I am not saying this is anyone. What I am saying is this:
The whole area of conflict - Afghanistan, Pakistan, any other -stan you might want to pick - abounds with people who will blow themselves up in protest, let (even train) their children to do likewise, and mutilate themselves in protest (several links have been provided in this thread.)

There are folks who will jump on photos such as this and with little of no research condemn the entire U.S. government as barbaric. (refer to the OP)

I just don't happen to agree that the entire governmental system is as jaded as some posters seem to think.

10. Until I See Confirmation That It Was Self-Inflicted
I will not believe it. I've seen enough shit already to believe this was done by our government. Guess we'll never really know.

12. Yeah I totally agree.
I need proofs from reliable sources that this man did this to himself.
