Is Chris Matthews running for Senate?
Just heard on my local am station. They asked for callers to call in and tell them what they think about Chris Matthews leaving MSNBC and running for Senate. :wtf:

2. So why doesn't he come clean and state that
he's a Rethug hack - not that we aren't already aware of that fact

This rumor has been around for some time.

9. He used to work for Tip O'Neill, I don't think he has any real ideology anymore...
Because like the rest of them he's motivated entirely by his own self-interest.

4. There is a good chance
that Mr. Matthews will be a democratic candidate for the US Senate in an upcoming PA election.

14. Matthews has long been
a democrat. He worked for a democratic Speaker of the House, and for a democratic President. And when he ran for Congress, many years ago, he ran as a democrat in a primary against a rather corrupt PA politician.

5. Tweety will have to wait 2 years cause Specter's term isn't up
till 2010. Who knows if Arlen will be able to run again. If Specter can run then I don't think he'll be that easy to defeat. He's no Santorum. Now Tweety's contract is up next year and there are rumors at MSNBC that he will not be renewed. That might be when Rachel Maddow takes his spot.

10. Specter would be easily re-elected if he runs again
I'm not huge fan of Arlen because while he has disagreed with some of the right wingers, he never did so at a critical time that would have made a difference. If he does something right, it's pretty much because he's legacy shopping at this point.

The only way you defeat someone like Specter is run a campaign about having someone with a fresh face and new ideas, but in Specter's case that would be seen as beating up on a cancer victim. The only way he could be unseated is in a primary challenge (which he nearly was last time) from the right. I would love nothing more than to see the right wingers unseat him in the primary only to have their chosen nutjob get his ass kicked in November.

11. He'd be useless
He can't bear to let anyone speak a full sentence without interrupting.

12. I like him.
I don't get it why he's so hated. He's rather even-handed and was among the first news personalities to blame the neconservatives for Iraq. He worked for Carter and wrote Carter's excellent, though often maligned, State of the Union (known as the "malaise" speech).

Give the man a break.
