Rep. Dennis Kucinich has led the fight for impeachment since April 2007, when he defied Speaker Pelosi and courageously introduced 3 Articles of Impeachment (H.Res. 333/799) against Vice President Cheney. On June 10, Kucinich defied Speaker Pelosi again and introduced 35 Articles of Impeachment (H.Res. 1258) against President Bush.

When Pelosi refused to allow hearings on any of the 38 Articles of Impeachment, Kucinich returned to the floor of Congress to introduce one more Article of Impeachment against President Bush (H.Res. 1345).

Thanks to massive pressure from Democrats.com and our pro-impeachment allies, Speaker Pelosi finally allowed Chairman Conyers to hold a hearing this Friday. Kucinich will finally get a few minutes to argue for impeachment, along with Rep. Robert Wexler, former Rep. Liz Holtzman, and former Salt Lake City mayor Rocky Anderson.

H.Res. 1345 focuses on Bush's ultimate crime - invading Iraq on the basis of lies. The evidence is overwhelming that George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, Karl Rove, Andy Card, and other top officials deliberately manufactured those lies to "sell" an invasion whose real purpose was to gain control of Iraq's oil and establish military bases in the heart of the Middle East.

This was the agenda of the Project for a New American Century that Bush adopted after stealing the 2000 election. And it's the reason Bush and John McCain are determined to stay in Iraq forever, even though Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki supports Barack Obama's plan to remove all our troops by 2010.

When Kucinich testifies on Friday, he will naturally face hostile questions from rightwing Republicans who impeached President Clinton. But Kucinich will also face hostile questions from key Democrats who oppose impeachment.

Some of these Democrats supported the invasion of Iraq: Howard Berman (CA28), Rick Boucher (VA09), Adam Schiff (CA29), Brad Sherman (CA27), and Anthony Weiner (NY09).

But most of these Democrats oppose impeachment because they are cowering in fear of a counterattack from the White House and FOX News: John Conyers (MI14), Artur Davis (AL07), Bill Delahunt (MA10), Zoe Lofgren (CA16), Jerry Nadler (NY08), Linda Sanchez (CA39), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL20), Bobby Scott (VA03), Betty Sutton (OH13), and Mel Watt (NC12).

Only a few Judiciary Democrats understand that the Founding Fathers gave Congress the power of impeachment as the only way to stop a President from defying the Constitution and becoming a dictator, as Bush has done: Robert Wexler (FL19), Tammy Baldwin (WI02), Steve Cohen (TN09), Keith Ellison (MN05), Luis Gutierrez (IL04), Sheila Jackson Lee (TX18), Hank Johnson (GA04), and Maxine Waters (CA35).

If anti-impeachment Democrats get their way, Friday's 2-hour hearing will be the only "impeachment" hearing for this entire Congress - and then Bush will try to pardon himself and everyone else before leaving office next January, just as his father pardoned six Iran-contra criminals.

Update 1: The evidence of Bush's war crimes and other impeachable offenses grows daily. Investigative reporter Jane Mayer's new book The Dark Side provides more evidence that Bush authorized torture. The British Parliament accused Bush of torture.

Yet Attorney General Mukasey told Congress he won't prosecute anyone who followed Bush's illegal torture orders. Even worse, Bush's rightwing supporters have begun a propaganda campaign for blanket pardons of everyone in the Bush administration!

5. We grilled our Rep. Peter DeFazio D. in a town hall meeting in

Port Orford Oregon about impeaching Bush, it lasted about 20 min. but couldn't get him to sign on to it, he didn't feel it would be productive, but he is a great rep. with everything else and he knows how we feel about things.

We believe this presidency/vice presidency has done more harm to our country than could be listed in this limited space. We've watched from the beginning of their first term, we stood behind them after 9/11/01, then we were horrified about the direction they took when they set their focus on Iraq. It was our belief from the onset of the invasion that this was a personal score that Bush wanted to settle and that it was also for the purpose of taking their land's oil.

It is beyond our comprehension that this administration would defy the Geneva Conventions and command that torture be used against the Iraqi people. We do imagine what it would be like if our country were invaded by another (stronger) country: If we defended ourselves and our country, we could be picked up without our family knowing what happened to us, labeled "enemy combatants", jailed without benefit of a fair, impartial legal hearing, and tortured in the process until we provided names of other people who were fighting against the invasion.

If this administration has nothing to hide, it wouldn't be claiming "classified information" and ignoring subpoenas at every turn to avoid sworn testimony; it would welcome the chance to present its case to Congress. Instead, we feel that Congress is being intimidated in some way in order to suppress the truth from the public.

Enough is enough. We ask that you put country above political strategy or political party by impeaching the most damaging presidency of our lifetime.

But there really isn't. It's still roughly a dead heat -- and that's in the most tilted "political environment" in decades. There needs to be a 10 point minimum spread to overcome the suppression and theft that's coming this time.

This stuff yesterday about the Obama advisor saying he's going to let crimes go unpunished, unless they're "egregious" (whatever is meant by that) just makes him look weaker and weaker. His Impeachophobia makes him look like a DC elitist stooge, as opposed to someone connected to the public/electorate.

And there's no reason to think this will change in a few months. It rarely does. Only impeachment can change the game -- connect with what the 2006 election was all about -- and energize the base to a sufficient level.

They may yet talk themselves into it in DC. Friday's a start anyway.

The ABC/Washington Post poll has Obama ahead among the under-30s by a whopping 66 percent to 30 percent, while McCain leads among over-65s (technically, I should say "65 and overs," but "over-65s" is more succinct) by 45 percent to 40 percent. Quinnipiac has Obama leading among under-35s by 63 percent to 31 percent, while McCain edged Obama 45 percent to 44 percent among over-55s. The CBS/New York Times poll showed Obama leading among under-30s by 48 percent to 36 percent, while McCain led among over-65s by 42 percent to 40 percent. In general, Obama's current lead in recent polls is due entirely to his lead—by as much as 2-1—among young voters.

... the converse of that news is also true. He is not appealing across the board.

Sure, we can hope that youth turnout will be in record numbers, but that's not been the history. And more importantly, young voters are among the most vulnerable to suppression tactics. We saw that in both 2000 and 2004.
