McCain: I don't know how you respond to something that is such a false depiction of what actually happened. Colonel McFarlane (phonetic) was contacted by one of the major Sunni sheiks. Because of the surge we were able to go out and protect that sheik and others. And it began the Anbar awakening. I mean, that's just a matter of history. Thanks to General Petraeus, our leadership, and the sacrifice of brave young Americans. I mean, to deny that their sacrifice didn't make possible the success of the surge in Iraq, I think, does a great disservice to young men and women who are serving and have sacrificed.

They were out there. They were protecting these sheiks. We had the Anbar awakening. We now have a government that's effective. We have a legal system that's working, although poorly. And we have progress on all fronts, including an incredible measure of security for the people of Iraq. There will still be attacks. Al Qaeda's not defeated. But the progress has been immense. And to not recognize that, and why it happened, and how it happened, I think is really quite a commentary.

Yes that is right , Mr MCGOO thinks that it was the SURGE that led to the Sunni Awakening. I am not a history major, but I do recall that the Anbar awakening began in 2006.

I know that poor John has been complaining that the media is falling in love with Obama, but how will he explain CBS cutting this little jem from his interview and leaving it on the cutting room floor? It is only available through the transcript. Thanks for nothing CBS, Katie has once again proven that she is nothing more than a corporat shill. I wonder if anyone else will pick up this story? 3. According to the dKos story, CBS not only cut the answer, but they actually REPLACED it

with a segment of another answer McCain gave to another question. This seems like a much more outrageous move than simply cutting part of an answer.

5. I was watching the news this morning and noticed...

that, instead of playing a clip of 43* speaking, the news anchor read from a transcript - over the video. My immediate thought was that it was a sanitized, edited, WH/MSM approved version of whatever it was he actually slurred and mumbled to the crowd.

Given that neither Bush* or McBush can open their mouths without sounding uninformed, ignorant and completely out of touch with reality, I expect to see much more of the same.

I can't wait for the debates.

9. I could tell from the promos...

that Couric was gunning for him. Saw the part about his weakness which he handled well. The fact that the M$M is working overtime to distort his words only show how desperate they are. I have the feeling that before this is over, and Barack mops the floor with them, they'll wish for Hillary.

CBS and Couric need to be called out on this for the liars they are. Let them lose the last shred of credibility.
