Are you satisfied that Osama Bin Ladens' chauffeur is undergoing a military tribunal?
http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/07/22/10513/

As Ron Kuby described:

As "lefties" we would love to be able to have GW Bush arrested for war crimes. So let's suppose we get the ICC (International Criminal Court) to issue an arrest warrant against George Bush. And Bush is in some European country and they send in a commando police team to take him into custody, but they miss Bush. But you know who we get? We get his driver.

And we put his driver on trial for the Iraq War. Now, even the most unreconstructed lefties among us would have to say - that is utterly absurd.

But yet that is precisely what the American gov't is doing with respect to Mr Hamdan.

He was the freaking chauffeur. Jesus, how pathetic and desparate can Bush get?

2. Yes.
and no, I'm not in the least satisfied, because even if he's cleared, he will end up remaining in Quantanamo. What kind of justice is that?

I'm of the conclusion that the only thing Quantanamo is good for is making sure that the world hates the US.

6. If it were in my power to get this guy into a group
for torture survivors to heal with the eventual aim of repatriating him to his family, I would do so.

I'm sure he spilled everything he'd overheard within a week of being picked up.

The only good thing so far is the recognition that torture doesn't work, that information obtained through it is useless, and that it can't be used to convict him of anything.

It's only natural to want the perpetrators, especially Cheney, Addington and Yoo, to suffer the same treatment. I think we're better than that.

We do need to bring them to justice for this hideous episode. We need to tell the world that we've taken our country back from them.

7. It's a show trial before a Kangaroo court. It has zero legitimacy.

It's what one expects from totalitarian states.
