BREAKING: Willie Nelson agrees to Farm Aid-type event in support of Impeachment
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 12:10 PM by Texas Explorer
Willie Nelson, speaking on the Alex Jones show, has just announced that he would be a driving factor in a new Farm Aid-type event that will focus on supporting Dennis Kucinich's efforts to impeach george bush. It will also be an anti-war event. This plan is literally coming together as I type. Willie has just committed to it.

Mr. Nelson also believes that the event could be used as a platform for those who do not believe the government's official story of 9/11 to speak out and let their feelings be known.

The event was conceived by a caller into the Alex Jones radio show just minutes ago who suggested that Willie back or organize the event as a way to take the efforts to impeach bush and advocate for a new 9/11 investigation, which is supported by the majority of victims' families, to the next level.

The venue will be either in New York City or in Austin, Texas. Both Mr. Nelson and Mr. Jones agree that the event should be held soon so that it can be used as a way to enhance Congressman Kucinich's efforts.

This is a developing story and is unfolding on air.

If anyone can pull this off and make the media pay attention, it's Willie Nelson.

7. I hope it happens in Austin so I can go. But, if the 9/11 families jump
on board, it may be more appropriate to hold it near Ground Zero.

Either way, I'm routing for them to get it done. I'm sure there are enough celebrities and bands and big money people to pull it off quickly.

I'll be updating as the event develops.

he's been committing impeachable offenses since 2001 and we are just now getting one Representative to read AN article of impeachment as he has only 6 months left in office.

11. Willie said himself that the event would have to be organized
very quickly in order for it to help Dennis' impeachment efforts.

The event will also focus attention on the efforts of 9/11 victims' families to get another investigation.

143. Wow are you outnumbered!
An entire thread with only one negative comment that I can see.... ever hear that little ditty Willie sometimes sings about accentuating the positive?

Willie Nelson's name and reputation alone would keep it from becoming a "circus side show", if indeed he does something like this. Also, I'd say he's one of very few who could pull it off and be successful.

"focus".

If it becomes a 9/11 conspiracy rally, it won't do a thing to further impeachment.

He can be impeached after he leaves office, though conviction and removal from office would be moot, obviously.

13. Actually, the idea was from a caller to Jone's radio show, but it was like,
once the caller suggested it, Willie's demeanor was like a V-8 slap in the forehead moment.

I guess he's been staying "medicated" and it never occured to him. I was a "Why didn't I think of that already?" moment.

What's great about this is if anyone can do this sort of thing and get big names to jump on board fast and get the whole thing organized, it's Willie and his contacts.

19. UPDATE: Farm Aid-type event to support 9/11 first responders / Impeachment
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 12:40 PM by Texas Explorer
Willie Nelson has agreed to explore, back, and promote a possible new Farm Aid style event and suggested the proceeds from such an event could go to help the families of victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93, as well as the first responders who have fallen ill from breathing the air at Ground Zero and who are getting insufficient assistance from the government.

This is developing news and I will update as warranted.

139. I think that it would have better impact if it was just American artists
I think there would be a lot of objection to non-Americans supporting impeachment. I personally don't care but I think it would piss off a lot of people who would become defensive over "foreigners" trying to interfere with US politics. Now taking him to the Hague and prosecuting him for war crimes, that could be an international effort. I would prefer that over impeachment any day.

35. The event is conceived first and foremost to support Dennis Kucinich (Contains UPDATE)
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 01:35 PM by Texas Explorer
in his effort to impeach george bush. The 9/11 stuff is because Willie himself does not believe the official story. But if 9/11 is involved in the theme of such an event, Willie agrees that any proceeds that may come from an event should go to 9/11 first reponders who are not getting adequate assistance from the government.

I just spoke with a representative of 9/11 Families for a Secure America. They are a conservative group of 9/11 family members advocating for more security and they believe the official 9-11 Commission Report is a sufficient accounting of the events, though it is not perfect. "I would support Willie Nelson's efforts to assist 9/11 first responder because God knows the government is falling down on the job with regard to them," the representative said. "I would also like to see the president or federal government or New York City government do something to help those first responders because they deserve it."

I also asked whether or not he supports Dennis Kucinich's effort to impeach george bush. "I also would not mind seeing george bush impeached. I wouldn't mind seeing that at all."

36. I don't think we can link to his sites. But I don't know about referencing him. All I do know is
that it was Willie Nelson speaking live on the radio, despite who it was he was talking too. Unfortunately, to an extent, it was Jones' show that produced the whole idea and so he has to be acknowleged by default. And, by default, he will be involved in the final product.

54. Wow! Awesome!
A great idea!

And Willie's got a lot of guts, to take this on after all the grief he's had from the government personally already. A lot of people would want to just stay out of the spotlight on something like this and hide.

He's a true patriot. God bless him, for using his fame and talent in this way.

This makes most other celebrities look pretty weak, doesn't it?

67. Ok, I have to stand down from my earlier comments that the emphasis
is on the impeachment aspect of the event. As I'm listening to the rebroadcast, the 9/11 truth part was mentioned first and also Kucinich's impeachment move. Alex, of course, seized on the 9/11 truth part and it was mentioned most often during the first segment of the conversation.

But, who cares. I, for one, WANT another 9/11 investigation because that is what some 9/11 families want and they deserve to have whatever they need to get closure.

Coming back from commercials now...

71. Farm Aid 2008
Farm Aid's 2008 concert is September 20 at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA. http://www.farmaid.org.

With Farm Aid happening in late September and to support Dennis, they have to do something fast so perhaps a "Farm Aid-type" event is a little strong, though that was how the idea was characterized.

Despite what happens with the 9/11 Truth/Impeachment/Anti-War event, I really appreciate Willie continuing to stand up against TPTB and I appreciate his unfailing support of Dennis Kucinich and his efforts to impeach the chimperor. He even wrote a song for Dennis' presidential campaign.

85. How many Democrats in Congress really want to do this?
The problem with impeaching Pres. Bush now is that very few Democrats want to be distracted from things that are going on now, including preparation for the Denver convention and the November election. There is also the danger that Republicans, who may have become disillusioned with Bush because they believe he hasn't been conservative enough (and there are a number of them out there) might be motivated to support him and/or Sen. McCain instead of passively supporting the administration and/or the party (or simply choosing to sit this election out).

If Democrats try to impeach Bush over the Iraq war, Republicans (or, more correctly, conservatives) will happily trot out sound bites of Democrats supporting an invasion of Iraq long before 2003 (when we went in; remember that we only went into Afghanistan in 2001-2002). This may serve to drive a wedge between the party and the base (at least, the conservatives will hope so). Other things, such as comments by anti-war conservatives (Pat Buchanan, perhaps?) and anti-war retired generals and other military personnel, will either be ignored or discredited (probably the former).

Ain't politics grand?

105. So let's just keep on sieg heiling and truth and justice be damned?????
Let someone with real integrity stand up and tell the people what has been going on while they were turning over in their sleep, and watch them climb on board the impeachment train.

And if the Democrats in Congress don't really want to do this, then let them find another job. They took an oath to defend the Constitution. They represent us. Their record over the last eight years is shameful.

Impeachment! It's way past time.

It takes one person with courage to stand up and get the ball rolling (DK). Then others jump on board, and it snowballs. We're seeing the snowball starting out, and it will just keep getting gathering momentum and getting bigger and bigger. This is all part of the larger picture, where we will see the rethugs swept out of office and President Obama in the White House. I'm getting chills tonight just thinking about it. For the first time in a long time, the future looks bright!

152. context, people, context
That's what's so beautiful about this move.

Think of how Farm-Aid and some of the other such concerts were presented. They were huge displays of caring for the people who raise our food. The situation was desperate and the government wasn't doing anything about it, so caring people directly intervened.

Now we have a situation where the course of action prescribed by our constitution is being denied to us by the LEADER OF THE OPPPOSITION PARTY. And once again, caring people--citizens--are directly intervening.

If this doesn't point out to the world how pathetic and estranged from the people that this government is, I don't know what will.

I am sure, too, that the planners of this event will realize the event will be off limits by the American media and that they will have to depend on foreign media for coverage.

156. They haven't banned the Internet. Yet. That would be a medium to
deliver the concert. Of course, martial law might be declared before that time. Or the event could be the venue for one of their terrrrrst tacks.
