Of all the crimes bush & cheney have gotten away with, which galls you the most? |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 02:56 PM by Philosoraptor
The real crime to me is the fact that they've gotten away with EVERYTHING.
What does it say about Americans that they've allowed all these criminals to get away with all they have?
What does it say about our society?

there are so many crimes to choose from but I guess the one that has always gotten to me the most are the lies of Iraq/WMD to the congress, the people of the USA and the world, leading up to the illegal war. This has caused so many deaths and permanent injuries and the thought that Bush is getting away with it makes we want to scream!!! One can only imagine the uproar from congress and the media if Bill Clinton did such a thing. Bush does it and the media laughs at Bush's "no WMD here" jokes.

I cannot pick just one.
From stealing the election in 2000, to lying to start a war, to outing a covert CIA agent, to spying on us and lying about it, to the waste of taxpayer dollars, you name it. They are all egregious abuses of authority, and if we had a Congress that did its job, Bush and Cheney and their ilk would be gone right now.

17. They're not the problem |
|
Actually, none of their crimes bother me in the way the question is looking for. They bother me in the same way the crimes of Richard Speck or Charles Manson bother me.
What REALLY bothers me is the mass of Americans who continue to support them. THEY are the ones I hold responsible for our current situation, as without them, the neocons would be as fringe, and as influential, as, say, Technocracy or the Libertarians.
In particular, the ones still driving cars, the ones still working for global corporations, the ones who still consume mass media, the ones agitating for more cheap plastic stuff from China, the businessmen agitating for more corporate control - ESPECIALLY the small business people who think that corporations are on their side and people aren't...
What matters at this point isn't really what anyone SAYS, it's what they spend the hours of their days doing, and what larger tasks and goals they are working for, whether they understand and share them or not.

36. My reply to the naysayers...... |
|
Do you believe that Saddam was responsible for 400,000 deaths and was it one of the reasons for taking him out? They invariably answer yes to this question. Then I say, "the same folks who calculated this 400K number has calculated that 1.2 million people have been killed in Iraq." You cant believe one set of numbers and NOT accept the second set.
WE are responsible for KILLING 1.2 million people in Iraq. Anytime anyone tells you about the fantastic success in Iraq, remind them about the blood on their hands.

It'd be one thing if there was an opposition that just didn't have the power in congress to punish them. The fact that the opposition has taken impeachment off the table is the most disturbing part. There will always be criminals, we need competent people in the right places to stop them.
