Do wingnuts suffer from abused wife syndrome?
Sometimes it seems as though wingnuts descended from a different species than did the rest of us. I’m not talking about those who are conservative because of financial greed, or religious extremism. I’m talking about those who don’t fall into either of those two categories, yet still back Reaganism/Bushism/Cheneyism.

A squirrel will seek shelter from the rain. A bird will fly off if you throw a rock at it. An abused pet will run away given the opportunity. But a wingnut can be kicked, spit upon, used, screwed, ground into the dust, and still keep coming back for more.

Can their blind loyalty to a venomous, hate-filled, inhumane political party mean more to them than the well being of their families and themselves? Can something as trivial as a flag lapel pin twist them into believing that eating shit makes them “good Americans?” Can what they’re against make them incapable of understanding what they’re for?

I’m no psychologist, but I often wonder if wingnuts suffer from something akin to abused wife syndrome. They seem to be capable of rationalizing away the unending damage being done to them and theirs.

Can anyone explain WTF is wrong with these people?

2. I proffered this particular idea in 2003
One of the many persons I mentioned this to turned out to be a formerly battered wife. She said I was 100% right.

4. I think I have an idea...

they fit into a sub culture of our species. Also know as wanna-be's. They believe that if they yuck it up at lame/bad jokes, that if they follow blindly the bizarre set of rules and laws set down by their masters, they will at some point feel "included".

Why this bizarre need of inclusion? I think it harks back to childhood. They weren't the last kid picked for the baseball team; they weren't picked at all. Why weren't they picked? Well, because their set of social skills places them in the asshole category.

Johnny has no friends. Johnny's mom is concerned. She consults the other kids. "why don't you like johnny?" she asked. Bobby from down the street replies, "well, mrs. republican mom, your son Johnny is, well, an asshole."

What makes an asshole? Well, a few things. 1) laughing overly long and loudly at the misfortune of others. No, I'm not talking Elmer Fudd or Wild E. Coyote, no, I mean, laughing at the kid who was hit by a car on his birthday. Oh the hilarity. :sarcasm:
2)Takes the last cookie and doesn't admit to it. When everyone knows and sees crumbs on his shirt. 3)Argues over stupid ass things that really no one could care less about, but feels his ego puffed up as a result of everyone walking away. He mistakes this as winning. 4) Doesn't understand the concept of Irony. 5)Doesn't understand satire 6) can't laugh at himself. 7) has an odd sense of being persecuted at every turn. 8) is a really bad loser and worse off 9) is a really bad winner.

These are just a few, there are countless others.

At the end of the day, poor Johnny just wants so bad to be included. However, he's so afraid everyone will find out what his secret is, that he's willing to throw away any sort of sense of integrity to keep that secret, what ever it may be.

So the long and short to my long winded response is: Johnny wingnut rightwing nut job is an asshole. :)
