So, there was an armed standoff in my apartment parking lot today.

A man threatened to kill his daughter who is 28 and lives at the complex. The man got there this morning about 10 and was seen with guns and the police were called. He apparently had multiple guns with a lot of ammunition, and sat in his truck for about 6 hours before giving up. No word yet on how he gave up but they had to take him away in an ambulance. I went to go home for lunch and there were about 15 cops, a few ambulances and firetrucks were there and the police turned me away, they had the roads around locked down. No one could go in or out. Of course this tard decided to do this after I went to work and not before, might have had a nice off day. THey even brought out the swat team and a robot that took the man McDonalds to eat. All people kept on property were considered hostages. The news said he was going to be charged with terrorism charges.

What a crazy place Tuscaloosa has become, this was about 10 minutes away from campus. Just wild.

Does that mean he can now be held indefinately without the right to writ of habeas corpus and a jury trial? If you or I have a moment of extreme emotional breakdown and we do something stupid, even knowing we have no intention of hurting anybody, be seized and have "terrorism charges" placed on us?

How long before even minor crimes or things that aren't crimes at all, like posting to this message board, are enough to charge you or me with "terrorism charges"?

11. I have an update, the real story from our maintenance guy who watched it happen.

Ok I know its a shocker being Alabama and all but the guys daughter was dating a black guy. The dad (guy)is from Tennessee and he came down here to kill his daughter and her boyfriend. He went to his daughters work this morning after coming by her aptartment and made her leave with him, they called the cops when they left. The police were wating on him at the apartment complex, and surrounded him, dont really know when she got out of the truck. Some people were standing out watching this happen, and my neighbor even videotaped it (link below), well this agitated the guy and he told the cops he was going to start shooting the people if they didnt leave. The police made them leave, adn eventually he gave up.
