Hurricane etiquette question

Am I wrong to want bad things to happen to t.v. weather people who
stand outside in hurricanes to show us that it windy and wet?

I like the reporting if it show the weather, the sat. photos, the damage,
the storm track, wind speeds, surge heights, and rainfall but the
person out in the storm shot is just old and adds nothing to the story.

Now a weather person being swept away by a storm surge into a bay
filled w/ hungry gators ...... :bounce:

by the networks in 1961,

In early September 1961, Rather reported live from the Galveston Seawall as Hurricane Carla threatened the Texas coastline. This action, which has been imitated by countless other reporters, impressed the network executives at CBS, and they hired him as a CBS News correspondent in 1962. In his autobiography, Rather notes that back then TV stations didn't have their own radar systems, and of course nobody then had the modern computerized radar that combines the radar image with an outline map. So he took a camera crew to a National Weather Service radar station located on the top floor of the Post Office Building on 25th Street in Galveston, where a technician drew a rough outline of the Gulf of Mexico on a sheet of plastic, and held that over the black and white radar display to give Rather's audience an idea of the storm's size and position of the storm's eye.

8. No way and it's the predictable verbage that gets me!

The hurricane "SLAMS", "BEATS", "WHIPS", "WIND HOWLING", "SURGE" into the coast... etc., etc.
Not that hurricanes are anything to laugh at BUT some aren't that bad at all and the weather
people like to exaggerate.

They are all nasty

But how about? "Thanx Jane the storm slammed into the coast about 6 hours ago w/ howling winds
that whipped anything and everything into the side of that gas station. You can see here where the
storm surge carried a huge log that beat into the side of this car. Right now we are in the eye of the
storm and then we expect the winds to pick back up. Tommorrow morning's light will show just
how much this (name town or area) will have to do to get back on it's feet. Nick Nickman storm tracker

I grew up in the north east and we have them every year! :P I'd have to check
that number but I was adding up all my years on earth times hurricanes per year! :rofl:
