Arkansas Pulls Hundreds Of 'Racist' License Plates
'I Couldn't Imagine Putting This On My Car,' Motorist Says

ARKANSAS -- A series of hundreds of Arkansas-issued license plates are being pulled out of circulation over letter combinations that some claim are racist.

"I couldn't imagine putting this on my car," motorist Alice Kunce said as she held up her "018-NGR" license plate.

Kunce said she found the letter combination offensive.

"She looked at it and said, 'Why not,'" Kunce said. "I said, 'Look at it, what does it say?' and she looked at it and said, 'Oh.'"

The state decided to pull the entire series of plates after being made aware of the letter combination.

2. Man what idiots in the state bureaucracy let that slip by. My take on it is that
whoever picked those letters knew what they were doing just like the people who wanted them. The State beau racy overlooking it didn't do their job and let those plates get out. Stupid as hell and certainly a racist element to it.

3. Another over reaction
The state of NC had to pull a bunch of plates because they had WTF on them. Some people get offended at the stupidest stuff.

5. Hell, some could find Alice's last name offensive
People need to get a life and quit looking to be offended by random patterns in sequences of alphanumeric characters.

As was said above, folks got bent outta shape at WTF in NC, and idiots in Texas got upset when the sequence there finally generated "FAT" as a combination (I wonder if they didn't get upset that it had to pass through FAG first to get there?)

I can also remember fundies in TN getting bent outta shape at all those tags that had "666" in 'em some years ago.

Maybe folks wouldn't be so offended if they didn't spend their lives trying to become offended.

13. H is the 8th letter...HH means Heil Hitler.
In the movie Mississippi Burning they showed that someone putting three fingers into their belt, or exposing three fingers casually, signified three letters...KKK.

Don't these nut groups sound like children's secret clubs, with their signs and passwords?

9. With so many searching for reasons to cry sexism, racism, and
any other -ism, I imagine a plate with ***-*** would offend someone.

12. I remember back in the 60's...
I think it was in the late, beloved Electronics Illustrated magazine...a columnist reported that a computer had been set up to disallow certain 3-word prefixes for license plates. It stopped LSD and POT, but allowed USA, CIA and FBI. Interesting, isn't it?
