Been hearing a lot about exposures to Fannie and Freddie - someone mentioned this morning to me that Asia has over $1 Trillion of exposure to debt issued or guaranteed by the two agencies. Thats a trillion as in a 1000 billion dollars folks. Couple of Taiwanese banks just announced that they have about $50bn in exposures. Japan is thought to have over $250bn in exposure to these two names.

Implicatio - no way that the US can allow these two agencies to go bust if for nothing, due to what it means for foreign policy. Unless of course all this is part of a secret US government to beggar Asia by destroying the region's savings.

Obama will have no money to implement health policies or anything else if Freddie and Fannie turn out to be worse off than disclosed at this point..
