New product complaint web site
Edited on Fri Jul-25-08 12:14 PM by Dover
Did anyone catch the recent news story about a web site that has become THE place to
log your complaints about a product?

The news story I saw featured a woman who complained about a computer she bought (if memory serves),
and showed that many businesses now peruse that site in order to gain customer feedback about their products. In the story, the woman was called by the company who replaced her product.
I can't recall the name of the site....something like 'twitter'.

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone knows of this site, and if they do whether they have had similar
experiences of response from a company whose product you complained about?

On edit - Here's a story about the site:

1. 'twitter' was probably not the name of site ...
A twitter is "a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (otherwise known as tweets) which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. The sender can restrict delivery to those in his or her circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can receive updates via the Twitter website, instant messaging, SMS, RSS, email or through an application such as Twitterrific or Facebook. For SMS, four gateway numbers are currently available: short codes for the United States, Canada, and India, as well as a United Kingdom number for international use. Several third parties offer posting and receiving updates via email." - wikipedia

3. Thanks. Yes you're right. I misunderstood the story. What they were saying

was that sites LIKE twitter (facebook, etc.) are being watched by some corporate customer service types looking to squelch an online campaign by an irrate customer who was treated poorly or ended up with a bad product.

SOOOO....if ANYONE FROM SONY CAMERAS IS READING THIS......or anyone considering buying their digital cameras...I want to launch an official complaint!

I bought a digital Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2 Camera a little over a year ago for about $400. I actually loved it. Very easy and user friendly with great pictures. However, I recently put in two brand new batteries, pushed the power-on button and the camera turned on just long enough to tell me that the batteries were 'dead'. Tried those batteries in a flashlight just to be sure, and they were fine.
Called customer service to learn how I might correct this problem, and after trying one thing which didn't work was told that the repair would cost over $150!!!!!! This camera just BARELY made it past the warranty before breaking down and they want me to throw good money after bad to repair what is obviously a flaw in their systems? And how long before the next problem crops up?

SOOOOOO....if you are looking for a camera I would try to find something more reliable....a Canon or Nikon perhaps? Worth the extra money imo, and there are similar designs/models if you like the feel of this Sony. Miss the days and the companies that would stand by their products when there was clearly a flaw.

Why do I get the feeling Sony doesn't have any eyes out there scanning the internet so they can improve customer perceptions and satisfaction?

2. Here's a good website for any consumer complaints.

I like to check out websites like this before I buy a product, so I'll know what (and who) to stay away from.
