LynneSin's Weekly Senate Race outlook: Dem's +4 and 2 in almost dead heat
http://www.usaelectionpolls.com/ - I like this site, they compile their data from all the various political polls out there. Survey USA use to be like that but changes format and now I can't find shit.

Democrat Pickups:
It seems where there is an open seat there is a good chance we could be picking up another democrat in the senate (ok so not Idaho, I'll survive). With the retirement of Allard, Domenici and John Warner we are looking very strong to put democrats in their place with the Udalls (CO and NM) and Mark Warner in Virginia.

It also seems to be a good year for revenge up in New Hampshire. Six years ago there were investigations about the phone lines being jammed that prevent voters for getting help for finding their local polls. This and a lackluster 6 years from Sununu is making former very popular governor Jean Shaheen sitting pretty in her 2nd run against Sununu.

Finally are practically at a dead heat with Alaska and Mississippi. Let's face it, Ted Steven's popularity is starting to wear a bit thin in Alaska and perhaps some fresh blood like Mark Begich might be the answer.

And who said Mississippi is a surefire win for republicans when you have popular govenor Ronnie Musgrove running on the democratic ticket for the seat left open by Trent Lott.

1. It's looking good. However,
we need to pick up a few more seats than that in order to get a filibuster proof Senate majority, and that's what we need if Obama is going to be able to get his programs through. Does anyone know of any other seats that we might pick off? We need two or three more.

2. The odds are we will not get a filibuster proof senate in 2000
However, we can, without a doubt, kick Lieberman out of his chairman seat

3. The Wicker-Musgrove
race should be a great one. Wicker is already chucking the mud and right now the race is considered a toss up. Musgrove ain't a gem but he's solid gold compared to Wicker. I'm excited about this race and hope Mississippi can add a (D) to the senate next year.

Barbour may have fucked up good because he appointed Congressman Wicker to replace lott and a democrat won the election to get Wickers seat, so bar-bore may end up losing two seats for the R's.

In two of them, they are ahead within the margin of error (Colorado and Oregon), but they're behind in MS by just 1 point, while other formerly solid red states are turning pink.

Dem pickups (vs. 2002): AK CO NH NM OR VA GOP pickups (vs. 2002): (None)
