So would winning an Oscar do more to push Al Gore towards or away from a Presidential run?

I'm wondering if An Inconvienient Truth wins an Oscar if Gore will see that as a sign to stick to his work on the environment as his main calling or if he would feel that the impact of the movie and his success because of it has given him a renewed chance to win the election and make real change from the White House.

What do you guys think?

The Oscars sure does provide a hell of a lot of exposure with national TV viewers, by the way.

1. Positive exposure is good! He should win the Oscar and

he should go up on stage with the director to make an acceptance speech. I think it would be a positive thing for Al as well as for the issue of global warming. I just hope he goes to the Oscars. Surely the republicans will try to spin it that he is in with the Hollywood "liberals"; but then, so what?

2. It would stir up the buzz and make him more formidable.
If Obama is the "rock star," Al can be the movie star.

3. Yes, exposure to get the truth of this crisis out to more people...

So they become part of the solution in solving it. That is the entire point of the movie. I don't believe he thinks politics is the first and only avenue to solving this... As he stated, "been there, done that." It has to come from the people, meaning us seeing the the urgency and filtering it up through local and state governments and businesses, and I believe he wants to be the driving force behind that. Imagine if all fifty states passed a comprehensive climate change bill... We then wouldn't need Washington DC to do it by passing some flimsy, watered down, halfhearted piece of legislation that still gives incentives and profits to their special interests. We will need to change the way we do business and act in our daily lives in order to make the changes necessary to truly address this the way it needs to be addressed, which is morally, and that is his mission and it is a great and noble one. And in the end, no one piece of paper is going to make that progress unless we take it upon ourselves to bring it about. The power is with us is what he is trying to convey, and hopefully regarding the profits made on this movie and the attention it is getting, I hope it is because people are seeing that truth and want to make those changes themselves, and not just supporting it because they only think that by doing so without helping in the cause that it is going to force him to run.

4. Hum, I wonder.
Remember that the Oscar doesn't go to Al, it goes to the film-makers. That said, Al in the movie really did make it the wonderful thing that it was.

The real question is, as he sees Global Warming go mainstream, will he feel like his work is coming closer to fruition and he doesn't NEED to go back into politics? Or will he see that it's just not going fast enough and he will want to go into the race to really make it a higher priority issue? I guess the question really is, does HE think we're going fast enough, and if we're not, is he willing to go back into politics to push it?

5. I think winning the Oscar would be much more positive visibility for

Mr. Gore. The last few times I've seen him in the last few months, he's seemed relaxed, articulate, and had a great sense of humor. Unfortunately, the only specific instance I can remember was when he was a special guest on Saturday Night Live. He did a skit where he was the President, and he was absolutely hysterical.
I think the Al Gore from 2000 is considerably different than the one in 2007-older, wiser, not nearly as stiff and wooden, and I wish to god he would run (and win) the Presidency in 2008!! (even though I still think he was robbed in the 2000 election.)
Run, Al, run!!!
I found a link from crooksandliars from Mr. Gore's appearance on SNL in May of last year. It's absolutely hysterical. It's toward the bottom of the page.
