Poll question: Let me in, immigration man
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 06:40 PM by Omaha Steve
ARTIST: Graham Nash
TITLE: Immigration Man
Lyrics and Chords

There I was at the immigration scene
Shining and feeling clean, could it be a sin
I got stopped by the immigration man
He says he doesn't know if he can let me in

/ D - C - / D9 - Bb - / :

{Refrain}
Let me in, immigration man
Can I cross the line and pray
I can stay another day
Let me in, immigration man
I won't toe your line today
I can't see it anyway, hey-y

/ D - C - / D9 - / Bb - / 1st, 2nd / Bb - D - /

There he was with his immigration face
Giving me a paper chase, but the sun was coming
'Cause all at once he looked into my space
And stamped a number over my face and he sent me running

Won't you
{Refrain}

Here I am with my immigration form
It's big enough to keep me warm when a cold wind's coming
So go where you will as long as you think you can
You'd better watch out, watch out for the man anywhere you're going

{As refrain}
Come on and let me in, immigration man
Can I cross the line and pray
Take your fingers from the tray
Let me in, irritation man
I won't toe your line today
I can't see it anyway

1. Your choice #1 has nothing to do with immigration.
Equality of all men and legal residency are two completely separate issues.

I'm Tampa bound and Memphis too,
Short Fat Fanny is on the loose.
Dig that sound on the radio,
Then slip it right across into Buffalo.
Dick and Pat in ole D.C.,
Well they're gonna hold some shit for me.

3. Raise the minimum wage to a living wage
and enact and strictly enforce laws against labor exploitation.

The problem of illegal immigration would be ended because the jobs would simply evaporate.

Illegal immigrants are just cheaper hands. When all hands cost a living wage, the incentive to hire them disappears.

5. Yup. The "Immigration System" is merely a system of trafficking in human labor.
:shrug:

4. Immigration ought to be generally allowed
1. No one would come if they didn't think they would better themselves by coming
2. No one would come therefore, if our economy wasn't good.
3. Only a crappy economy would have no potential immigrants
4. It has always been to this country's advantage before, and nothing is different now.
5. Restricting immigration keeps out people who are enterprising, passionate and hard working, the very people we need to kick our economy into action.
