How do we 'win' the war/occupation in Iraq?
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 06:22 PM by ck4829
We went into Iraq to find weapons of mass destruction, how can we 'win' if those weapons can't be found?

4. The troops accomplished their mission....That's a WIN.
The politicians and corporations are the ones who need to keep this going for a win.

5. You win by...
Destroying the enemies you've attracted there because, after overthrowing the despotic government and setting up a democracy to serve the people, you have an obligation to keep the citizens safe until they can protect themselves.

7. So, we have an obligation to fix the disaster the Bush Administration created?
Can we call that the definition of victory, fixing Bush's mess?

9. More or less...
Yes.

But saying that 'this is all Bush's fault' is a gross misunderstanding.

8. you can't , we won't , it's not a war .
It was an attack and now an occupation. We had no right or invitation to go there in the first place. If we needed their oil we should have cut a deal and paid for it.

13. We lost this war March 20, 2003
An illegal preemptive war of occupation is un-winnable. The best we can do is honor the request of our puppet Iraqi government and get out now that they have asked us to. At least then, there will be some spin that can make it look a little better when historians study this debacle.

14. We'll never "win"
The whole point is for the war profiteers to make money. A war against "terrorism" is a boon to them, a perpetual and never ending war.

17. We WIN by leaving when they want us to leave, and that's 2010.
Edited on Sun Jul-27-08 02:12 AM by TexasObserver
The only way any of this can be a WIN is to minimize the damage already done, and to transition to a time when Iraq is run exclusively by Iraqis.

It's not a LIBERATION if you merely replace the tyrant who ruled before, and become the next tyrant.

18. Who are the US/UK Troops fighting in the next 10 months?
The Sunni & Shiite Insurgents have backed off. There is a truce of sorts. There are aprox. 140K US Troops in Iraq. There are aprox. 1,800 al Q. forces. Reports from Iraq have said many of the al Q are leaving for Afghanistan.

19. I didn't say they were fighting anyone. I said we leave when they ask us to leave.
The OP asked a question. I answered it. If you disagree with the answer, that's your answer, not mine.
