It's about "a vegetarian hippie chick race-car driver's journey to be carbon neutral."

At least she's preaching to the unconverted so it might do some good.

and advising the millions of spectators to stop driving to the races? Is she factoring in her race car and the gas consumed by the spectators as part of her "carbon footprint"? Is she urging the spectators to grow their own gardens, or to take to the streets demanding adequate public transportation, the expansion of the railways, and the end of ethanol subsidies? Has she said that war for oil is really stupid and murderous and ultimately guaranteed to lose access to the resource?

I just happen to think some greenwashing PR about a racer doing "green" things while continuing to race and not addressing automotive society at all is bullshit.

She's encouraging people to make positive changes that would work for them.

Obviously I'm not a big fan of the impact that NASCAR has on the environment (See any of the hundreds of posts I've made bitching about cars), but I think there's something admirable and interesting about someone promoting new ways of thinking to a group that's generally set in its ways.

the reality of what automotive society and its racing/propaganda division are doing to the planet.

As for promoting new ways of thinking, I'm all for it. But the gradualist approach is going to be overtaken by much harder realities of resource depletion and unsustainable activities (such as car racing) that will force more radical changes in thinking than this.
