McCain Fumbles His "This Week" Appearance
Source: Huffington Post

Coming off of a week in which he made several notable gaffes and was overshadowed by his rival's trip overseas, Sen. John McCain was undoubtedly hoping for a page-turner during his appearance on This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

But early reviews aren't very promising. Appearing from his ranch in Arizona, the Senator made cloudy, debatable statements on a wide-range of topics, in the process providing fodder for his Democratic critics.

First out of the gate were ABC's Teddy Davis and Kevin Kilbane, who noted that McCain had reversed his position on a state ballot measure to end racial and gender-based affirmative action in Arizona.

"I support it," McCain said of the proposed referendum. "I do not believe in quotas... I have not seen the details of some of these proposals. But I've always opposed quotas." . . .

1. I can't believe it, either. How is it remotely possible that this old windbag has a chance?

2. I doubt he is within 15-20 points of Obama. I think the polls
are incorrect due to the huge numbers of new Democratic voters generated by the primaries and mostly for Obama. That's how I think he won the primary and how the GE is going to be a complete blow out.

The only trick will be to get those people to the polls and then to actually have their vote counted.

4. No, that's not it
The polls are mostly just made up. The media's charge is to promote the illusion of this being a horse race so that people will both watch their silly shows (and their commercials) and accept the fraudulent "narrow win" by McSame if they can disenfranchise enough democrats.

10. And polls are to LAND LINE phones.
I'll bet you HALF of the under-30 households don't even HAVE a land line (just cells), so ALL those voters are missing from the stats.

Nevertheless, it worries me b/c it sets up a "close race" myth and makes election-stealing easier... :scared:

15. BINGO
I'm in that age group as are a large number of my friends.

I would say 80-90% of us do not have land lines.

They're kinda obsolete when you have a cell phone.

which candidate now was the one heavily favored by that 18-30 group again?

oh yeah, that's right!

18. I know a 90 year old women in Minnesota that is heart broken that Hillary
is not the democratic candidate. She is also very racist and says she will not vote for a black man. Nothing I have said to her will change her mind either.

9. Why am I not surprised . . .
The only possible chance for a McCain win will be under the same terms as the 2004 election.
McCain win = rigged voting machines.

12. once he chooses his running mate- THAT'S who will speak for the campaign...

and may even end up being the eventual candidate.

if the repukes DO keep mccain as their candidate- it's just proof that they don't want to have ANYTHING to do with being the party "in charge" as the walls come tumbling down over the next 4 years. this way, they'll be able to pin it all on the "black guy".

when fdr came into office, the economic SHIT had already hit the fan...this time, the repugs are trying to keep the shit from hitting until the black democrat is in office.

and it's probably going to work.

The M$M and polling companies keep him close for a reason.
