Need help finding a video on youtube
Today at our regular weekly Sunday vigil, a guy drove up, stopped at the light and jumped out of his car. He ran over, grabbed one of our signs and ripped it up. While he was ripping it up, he hit one of our activists on the head with the sign. Fortunately she wasn't seriously hurt. Then as soon as he ripped up the sign, he was back in his truck and drove off.

While he was doing this a couple of the other members of our group noticed someone on the roof of a building across the street with a camera. She shouted and pointed and that person ducked down quickly.

So we think this may have been set up and someone made a video. We have been having this vigil every Sunday for over 5 years now and we do tend to bring out the worst in a few war mongers who object to our message. (Our reception though, is overwhelmingly and increasingly positive.)

I searched youtube but don't see anything yet. I was hoping if any DUers see any films that match this descrition they will let me know.

Yes we called the police. They came with lights flashing and sirens blaring. They took a report and we did have the license number of the vehicle. It was an SUV from Colorado.

The search words on youtube would most likely be
Kansas City
Plaza
Country Club Plaza

and then whatever they call us - moonbats, dirty hippies, etc.

So if you see anything on youtube that matches this description, please let me know.

Thanks very much.

Proud :hi: :patriot:

2. Yes he was alone
It happened really fast and we are spread out at that site. By the time the others had ran over to help the lady who got hit the guy was back in his car speeding off. It was really amazing that anyone got his tag number.

One guy who was there at the park with his family jumped in his car and followed the guy but lost him. He was a Marine vet. He came back and thanked us for what we were doing and said he hoped the guy who ripped the sign wasn't a Marine.

6. maybe keep your eye on local newspaper, tv, radio websites
if any of them have info about it (probably will if police came?) - and if they have comment boards - might get some clues?

Plaza war protesters disrespect U.S. flag and country
By STU TARLOW
Special to The Star
I missed the patriotic Flag Day rally recently at the J.C. Nichols fountain on the Plaza. But I did drive by on that Sunday and saw the motley gang of bleeding-hearts and assorted misfits who are usually demonstrating down there.

Amid the signs still calling for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney and telling us that 9/11 was a right-wing conspiracy was a fellow waving a very large American flag on a pole.

Except it wasn’t exactly an American flag because, on its blue canton, instead of white stars there was a white “peace symbol.”

For those who may not know, the “peace symbol” is actually formed from the semaphore signals for “N” and “D,” and originally stood for “nuclear disarmament.”

Anyway, during the Vietnam era, although it was sometimes referred to as “the footprint of the American chicken,” even some American troops sported peace symbols on their helmets or on pendants around their necks.

Hippie chicks wore peace symbol earrings, and the symbol adorned tie-dyed T-shirts and just about everything else, including flags like the one I saw that Sunday.

But here’s the thing:

It may not have been an actual American flag (and substituting the peace symbol for the stars is, in and of itself, disrespectful and a violation of flag etiquette). But it looked enough like Old Glory that it really bothered me to see that the fellow holding it made no effort whatsoever to keep the flag from touching the ground.

But then, I assume he probably sees the American flag not as a proud symbol of our nation, but as a symbol of our “racist, sexist, imperialist, war-mongering” country.

I suspect he probably has the same contempt for the flag that he might hold for those of us who revere and cherish it.

And I think he’s probably especially contemptuous of those who have risked (and sacrificed) their lives and freedom to keep that flag flying and to preserve his right to protest, no matter how tasteless and disrespectful to the flag that protest may be.

I wanted to stop the car and tell the fellow all this, but I believed it would fall on deaf ears.

So I kept my mouth shut and kept driving. But now I’m speaking out.

9. Yeah that was in a couple months ago
Can you still see the comments following this piece? They are overwhelmingly on our side. This guy is upset about a peace flag being disrespected and wasn't brave enough to talk to us in person. There were also a few LTTEs criticizing Stu.

And no, he has never bothered to stop and talk to us.
