Right Wing Lies and Irrational Racist Hate of Obama Plague My Hometown of Wichita, Ks.

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but the other day The Wichita Eagle posted a story about an Obama yard sign being vandalized. You will notice this type of racism and hatred right away. The irony is, these people thought they were the geniuses who knew the so called "real truth" and lectured the yard sign owner to do their research before they voted.



This is a sad day in Kansas and I believe this should make CNN if it hasn't already. We need to OUT these people and attack this problem head on.

If anyone else has posted this before me, I apologize, however I feel this is important and needs national attention.

Mrs. gratuitous and I visited friends in McPherson a few years ago. Very white. Very Middle America. Just like you'd see in a Norman Rockwell print. We toured around town with our friends, and everyone waved as we drove by. Folks walking their dogs. People strolling home from the supermarket. Knots of teen-agers talking on the corner. After the third time, we asked our friends, and they said that people just did that in McPherson, whether they knew you or not. We got used to it during our three day visit.

There are surely some racist nuts in Kansas, as the irrefutable evidence of the vandalized sign attests. But the people we saw and met on our brief sojourn in Kansas would be as appalled as anyone at DU by this out-and-out racism/rudeness. It will surprise me not at all when the sign vandals get the exact opposite reaction from their fellow Kansans that they apparently expect.

Hey from the Topeka area. I just spent yesterday with some of my sweetest friends who are Wichita residents. Good people there but when Wichita goes wacky it goes wacky.

It is a sad day and I am sorry this has happened to your city. I know enough of the liberal movers and shakers there to know that you will get through this and things will turn around. You have good people running for office, lots of them.

For others reading this thread let me just say that I am aware of many good things happening in Wichita but this and Operation Rescue are what will make the news. They should, not saying they are not important, but I don't want Wichita to have to carry around such a nasty rep without balance. Living in the Topeka area I know how that feels, the good things are always overshadowed and you all have had your share of craziness.

That my signs have lasted two weeks in the yard. There's a lot of people who won't admit voting for a black, but damn it people are hurting. In the paper the other day, a boyfriend and girlfriend got in a stabbing fight over TWO ROLLS OF QUARTERS. Then there were the three guys who tried to make off with a chair from Goodwill and ran out of gas before they could get out of the parking lot.

so far I've received the email about 'if Obama is elected they'll make a law to give all white women to blacks' from two different locals who have lived her as long as I have (50 years) Both of these people have been pretty stupid and racist for as long as I've known them.

on the bright side one of my neighbors has the only McCain sign I've seen. He has it on his front lawn surrounded by about 20 Obama signs.
