1. Not for me
Why should I care if some CEO "wastes" his money?

2. it will for me
and I'll let them know it, too. I'll support somebody who stays neutral or donates blue.

3. As a private citizen..
they should be able to spend their money as they please. But, when they use their corporations for partisan purposes something really sinister is going on. I don't go to Home Depot much (unless that is the only place to obtain a needed item) because it became "right wing" and Bush loyal. Why would I want to support a company that supports everything I am against? x(

4. Yes I avoid them like a plague
Never give it any thought to buy at home depot. I'm a lowes man myself and went by there yesterday and traded them a couple c notes for some boards, be going back in a few days to do the same.

5. Why would an author's personal life determine if I'll read them? . . .
If I like an author's work and appreciate their craft, I read them for the power and enjoyment of their thought and words. If their ideas are tainted, if their political or social beliefs intrude and poison their work, I reject it because I disagree with it.

How can I shut out art for unrelated influences? Provided the art doesn't forward the objectionable ideals, it should be judged on its merits. Should I reject Ezra Pound, one of the foremost poets of the twentieth century, because he spoke favorably for Mussolini? Can Celine's literary work be ignored because of his antisemitism? And if the artists are to be shunned for their beliefs, what of those who took their aid or who cite them as major influences? Pound edited The Wasteland and was credited by Eliot as "the better craftsman." Vonnegut attributed some of his ideas to Celine and acknowledged his debt to him for his impact on his writing style. So, as with all considerations of boycott and rejection, we're faced with the overriding consideration: How far do we go? How absolute shall we be?
