Bush appointees DELIBERATELY threatened national security for political purposes.
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 11:05 AM by kpete
In addition, we determined that Goodling often used political or ideological affiliations to select or reject career attorney candidates for temporary details to Department offices, including positions in EOUSA that had not been filled by political appointees. Goodling’s use of political considerations in connection with these details was particularly damaging to the Department because it resulted in high-quality candidates for important details being rejected in favor of less-qualified candidates. For example, an experienced career terrorism prosecutor was rejected by Goodling for a detail to EOUSA to work on counterterrorism issues because of his wife’s political affiliations. Instead, EOUSA had to select a much more junior attorney who lacked any experience in counterterrorism issues and who EOUSA officials believed was not qualified for the position.

2. Yeah, well...
Wait until the news that they were using the illegal warrentless wiretapping to spy on political opponents. I have $5.00 that says that shoe is out there, waiting to drop.

We need a Special Prosecutor. Now.

4. At a minimum, she should be BANNED
from any further public service for the rest of her life, lest she come back in 20 years and pull the same crap.

5. A majority vote to impeach and then to bar from holding future office must happen.
In the link below, John Dean details this approach against these GOP operatives who have been salted throughout our government.

It requires a simple majority vote in the House to impeach; then, a simple majority vote in the Senate follows, to disqualify the impeached person from holding any future office.

A third benefit from these actions is that it blocks a presidential pardon for these people.

Mukasey can and should be impeached. Then he cannot be pardoned.

Today's candidate is Monica Goodling.

6. Under the Hatch Act, I think they are only barred for 10 years.
They will be back if they are not dealt with this time. Just like all the Iran/Contra criminals.

10. I'd like to see her disbarred? What she did was illegal,
and she knew that - and if she claims she did not, that's her problem - she can whine to her Cracker Jack Box law school.

I think she and a few others should be prosecuted, fine & jailed for perjury, because what she has said under oath does not compute with all that we have subsequently learned.

Until we begin to hold people accountable we are only giving license to the next group of crooks to do whatever the hell they want to further their agendas.
