Robert Novak hospitalized with brain tumor
Robert Novak Hospitalized
07/28/2008

Robert Novak was admitted yesterday to a Boston hospital where he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In a written statement given to his publisher, Novak said:

“On Sunday, July 27, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I have been admitted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where doctors will soon begin appropriate treatment.

“I will be suspending my journalistic work for an indefinite but, God willing, not too lengthy period.”

Novak is the long-time editor of the influential newsletter, Evans-Novak Political Report, published by Human Events’ parent company, Eagle Publishing. Novak is also a well-known columnist for the Chicago Sun Times and more recently a Fox News Channel contributor. The 77-year-old Novak recently celebrated his 50th year as a Washington-based journalist.

'not seeing' the pedestrian he hit.

and that kids is the way it goes.

Anyone going over there pretty much gets a free pass on anything they want to say. Especially to be in a situation that has a certain Mr. Novaks little cloven hoof prints all over it with his pals.

And it's not like some here don't think the same.

25. A little more from Sun-Times
snip:
The diagnosis was sudden, she said. He became ill Sunday during a family outing near Cape Cod, Mass. A family member called 91, and he was brought by ambulance to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where the diagnosis was made.

It is too early to know whether the tumor is malignant or benign, his assistant said.

"They haven't even done the biopsy yet,'' Connolly said. That’s to be done some time in the coming days, she said.

34. The facts sound remarkably similar to those in Ted Kennedy's case.
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 12:29 PM by JDPriestly
Maybe it has to do with living in Mass. What was Robert Novak doing in Mass.?

Actually, I think it has more to do with being elderly. Regardless of the victim, brain cancer is a horrible condition. I would not wish it on anyone, not even Robert Novak. Nasty as he is, he does not deserve to have a brain tumor, and I am disgusted by the comments of people delighting in his suffering. He could be your father or grandfather. Please, have some compassion.

32. That could explain the accident
My father also had an undiagnosed brain tumor while he was still driving--thank goodness, he didn't have any accidents, although he did drive erratically. After he was diagnosed, we realized that he simply didn't see or notice anything to his left. He didn't see approaching traffic, he didn't see what was on the left side of his plate, he didn't comb the left side of his hair. This was before paralysis set in, mind you. I'm sure that if a pedestrian had bounced off the left side of his windshield at that time, he wouldn't have noticed.

38. Sort of
It wasn't so much a change of personality as the loss of personality and function. What was left was still him, but there was less of it, if that makes sense. For instance, for a while he still sat in his usual place reading his usual book, but the book was upside down.

66. Brain Tumor surgery has come a long way. My cousin got one...
He's a big strong, ex-cop, outdoorsman kind of guy. It took him about 7 yrs to fully recover. At first he was very weak on one side of his body, had dizzy spells, slurred speech and really had to relearn to do many basic tasks. After about 4 years the only outward sign was that he wore tennis shoes all the time instead of boots. He's now back to working full time, hunts and fishes in his off time and you'd never know he'd had a brain tumor.

Just FYI.
