Conyers threatens perjury charges against Gonzales
I know, I know, "just do it, Rep. Conyers!"

Conyers threatens perjury charges against Gonzales
By Joey Michalakes
Posted: 07/28/08 03:20 PM

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) on Monday said he would consider perjury charges against former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and two other former senior officials in the Department of Justice (DoJ).

Conyers was reacting to a new internal DoJ Inspector General report on the politicization of hiring practices at the department.

In a joint statement with Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.), Conyers said that the DoJ Inspector General’s report showed that “that the cost to our nation of these apparent crimes was severe.” Qualified individuals “were rejected for key positions” in the fight against terrorism “for no reason other than political whim,” the statement said.

He said his committee would investigate whether Gonzales; his former chief of staff, Kyle Sampson; or former DoJ White House liaison Monica Goodling committed perjury in sworn testimony delivered before the committee last year.

he has become a great disappointment. Maybe he is scared about the FBI Investigation of his wife?

14. It looks obvious to me that Mr. Conyers is complicit
And all these little stunts he pulls from time to time are just fucking theater to try and keep himself in good standings with us while he knows he won't do a gawd damned thing to endanger himself through his complicity.

19. Reminds me the scene from "A Few Good Men"
"I strenuously object?" Is that how it works? Hm? "Objection, your Honor." "Overruled" "No, no. I STRENUOUSLY object." "Oh. You strenuously object. Then I'll take some time and reconsider."

24. How much more cartoonish can this clown get?
This is just some more "blah blah blah, blabbity blah" from a now spineless jellocrat...

Hey Mr. Conyers? Just STFU and DO something already, we're tired of hearing you clear your blowhole... you used to be a great man but, like Bush after 9-11 & McCain after Viet Nam, you've squandered any great legacy that you'd built for yourself. Your legacy is now one of being a spineless blowhard complicit in the crimes of a criminal regime because you REFUSED TO STAND UP and do something about them.

What do you think would happen if one of us blew off a Congressional subpoena?

I'll bet that Congress would suddenly find the courage to actually follow through on their threats.

30. OH NO! Not perjury!
This means Gonzales will technically be the recipient of a piece of paper which, although it will never actually reach his own hands, accuses him of doing something bad! How will he ever recover?

(no, fuckwad, you don't get a sarcasm icon. figure it out)

Conyers seemed off his game to me. At times he seemed as lost as Mc Same. Did anyone else notice that ?

33. Yup. I noticed that too.
There were several occasions where he seemed to lose his train of thought and at least one instance where he couldn't even seem to locate the panelist who was speaking to him. The panelist kept saying "Over here, sir."

But be that as it may, I'm convinced that this time it's finally going to work. Congress is truly going to come through for us.
