Michele Bachmann taps former lobbyist for faith-based charlatans to run her re-election campaign

Brandon Lerch, Michele Bachmann’s new campaign manager, was director of government affairs for an organization called We Care America when it became embroiled in a financial scandal in Ohio and later folded up shop in 2007.

We Care America was a nonprofit organization based in northern Virginia that contracted with federal and state governments, as well as private entities, to administer grants to other organizations through faith-based initiatives offices. It was founded in 2001 by Dave Donaldson, former national director of Pat Robertson’s Operation Blessing relief organization and an honorary member of the Presidential Prayer Team for George W. Bush.
