103. What one freeper wrote about this ...
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 03:26 PM by mcg
I'm not going to link to it because that is frowned on ...
"We all know what we’d like to do to those liberal bastards, but we don’t do it, because it’s immoral and illegal. It’s not the guy’s sentiments that are necessarily at fault, but his actions. And we conservatives are mature enough to know that he’s got to suffer for them."

emphasis mine

This freeper is claiming is that "we all" (all conservatives) would like to kill liberals, and that there is nothing wrong with that "sentiment" as long as it is not acted on, so all this right-wing hate speech is ok. What disgusting spin. It ignores the fact that thoughts and feelings most often precede immoral actions. It's not just these actions that are bad, but what causes them. This poster is claiming that all the killer did wrong was to act upon his desire to kill. That is so messed up.

especially if their hatred was directed against the opposite political polarity.

For that matter, we're probably all closely surveyed anyway.

115. like "voters with low racial sensitivity"
I think it was on Colbert, though it might've been Daily Show, where they showed a clip of some polling showing the difference in support for McCain and Obama among voters with self-described "high racial sensitivity" and self-described "low racial sensitivity." Of course, the former went for Obama and the latter McCain.

So the poll was just saying that self-described racists aren't going to vote for the black guy. No shit. Oh wait, these weren't racists, these were "voters with low racial sensitivity."

You're absolutely right. Whenever I refer to "low-information voters" I always include after that phrase "aka people who are too dumb to breathe," or something to that effect. If you honestly still don't know whether Obama is or isn't a Muslim (or you believe he absolutely is), you're a complete fucking idiot. It's not that you haven't been given enough information; it's that you're too stupid to understand or be willing to understand the copious amounts of information that's available.

Things were supposed to become so much better for them with Bush and the Republicans in power. Obviously, that didn't happen. We can expect to see more of this in the months and years ahead as the modern conservative movement, spawned in the 60s, takes its last gasps and its myriad "dittohead" followers come to terms with the realization that they're never going to be raptured into wealthy white man heaven with their GOP overlords.

Misplaced, unfocused anger and rage. The sort of spelling and keyboard skills you'd expect. And, just as his Republican overlords have been telling him, the cause of his problems have nothing to do with reality. He's upset about high oil prices and "turbam" people, but doesn't see the two Texas oilmen squatting in the White House, or George W.'s huggy-kissy hand-holding with Saudi sheikhs.

It's worse. He's a typical Freeper Leader. If we counted all these murderous thugs alone, there would be no Republican party. The problem is the typical Republican accepts these type of guys as their role models, despite their stupidity, reeling the gullible into their cult like Charles Manson.

I'd never blanketly accuse any group of people of being as demented as these guys, but Freepers do follow them, like they follow BushCo.

Too sad it had to explode on so many innocent people. How anyone could not recognize that a peaceful gathering place where families watched their children do a musical was just not any place where violence needed to be, escapes me. But seeing those vast holes in logic...

OMIGAWDS! An offensive posting on an interwebs forum! MUST SUE/ARREST SOMEBODY NOW!

Had the posting mentioned something about "gonna go to the church and blast the joint up during the kids' play," that might be different. But there is nothing in any way illegal or actionable about the posting as it is. It's just a racist rant.

57. Yep.
That's what I was alluding to in my original comment. I'm not sure "for what, exactly". I couldn't think of grounds for a lawsuit... but I'm no legal expert. Chalk it up to my outrage speaking louder than my common sense.

Upon further reflection, while the comment on the Fox site is a highly offensive rant, he has a right to state his opinion (as twisted and incomprehensible as it may be).

Though it makes me wonder what Fox's policy is regarding comments of that nature? Do they just allow everything to remain, no matter what? If they do have a policy where offensive/inappropriate comments are deleted, I'd love to see any comments that were considered "worse" or "more innappropriate" that were removed. They may not even have the staff to monitor the comments, and just let 'em rip.

Heaven knows, I've left comments of my own that have incensed certain people on other forums... ;-)

Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 01:09 AM by Occam Bandage
If it's M.A., why the "except" then--is he claiming that Ahmadinejad is not being allowed to run things? That wouldn't square with his claim that he owns oil wells and companies. It might be Bush, assuming that "except" means that Bush runs things despite not being a "turbam person." If so, I wonder what he's so pissed off about; Bush has certainly been effective at killing muslium turbam people.

78. the 300 number - is it just a guess?
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 11:44 AM by varun
If there are 300 J Adkissons in the US, then, lets say:
- 70% are above the age of 21 (able to post on Internet)
- 80% of the above are online (have access to internet)
- 10% of the above post messages on bulletin boards
- 50% of the above are conservative
- 20% of the above are rabid muslim haters (as apparent from the post on fox)

Then, the possible number of J. Adkissons who may post on Fox are:

300* 0.7*0.8*0.1*0.5*0.2 = 1.68

1/2 is not bad!

80. I've worried about going to church a long time now.
I've often talked with members of my family about this - it's just about the last place in our country where there are large numbers of people who are so totally vulnerable. I know it's probably hard for some right-wingers to grasp, but it's possible to be a liberal and still have a spiritual side - and yet, your personal safety may be in jeopardy in church.

from there we need to criminalize Hate Speech.

It's not the potentially violent acting in a vacuum of isolation. This man had been without work, on the verge of getting his food stamps greatly reduced, had no roots or family. He is how old?

Fox News
Rush Limbaugh
Glen Beck

It is this type of daily Mind Control spewed by those "trusted" with Americas air waves that sometimes pushes someone over the edge. The "noise" had him convinced the Liberals were to blame when it is obvious where all our troubles lie.

Didn't the majority of us know almost immediately, not only was this killer a right wing lunatic, but that his greatest influence was the hate from our social commentators?

Sorry if my grammar or spelling is bad, I am so angry about this situation I shake thinking of it.

I am not sorry for my views though so please forget about arguing First Amendment Rights, with me.

90. That poster is certainly a Right Wing Authoritarian of some sort.
As described in these documents here:

http://www.wam.umd.edu/~hannahk/conservatism.html

As the first paper concludes:

We regard political conservatism as an ideological belief system
that is significantly (but not completely) related to motivational
concerns having to do with the psychological management of
uncertainty and fear. Specifically, the avoidance of uncertainty
(and the striving for certainty) may be particularly tied to one core
dimension of conservative thought, resistance to change (Wilson,
1973c). Similarly, concerns with fear and threat may be linked to
the second core dimension of conservatism, endorsement of inequality
(Sidanius & Pratto, 1999). Although resistance to change
and support for inequality are conceptually distinguishable, we
have argued that they are psychologically interrelated, in part
because motives pertaining to uncertainty and threat are interrelated
(e.g., Dechesne et al., 2000; McGregor et al., 2001; van den
Bos & Miedema, 2000).

The poster starts off striving for certainty: "yes i belive he is muslium...."

And runs on directly to fear: "all the muslium will take over..."

And hits most of the bases along the way: group-based dominance (and the fear of his ignorant white males losing it to "musliums" and "the blacks"); endorsement of inequality (implicit in the statement "will (well) its the other way around now"); resistance to change, and so on.

It occurs to me that if this was in fact the same guy who committed the crime, he's probably just the first of many who pop off like this or in similar ways. Now that America as we knew it is destroyed and change is unavoidable--downward, poverty-inducing change wrought by the criminal ways of their chosen leaders--they don't really have anyone left that they can trust. They're like attack dogs that don't trust or obey their masters anymore, unpredictable only in that one can't know which person they're going to bite first.
