FOX News Hosts' Books Read By Knoxville Church Shooter
http://www.newshounds.us/2008/07/28/fox_news_hosts_books_read_by_knoxville_church_shooter.php#more

On Sunday, Jim Adkisson entered the Knoxville Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee and opened fire killing two people and injuring seven more who were watching a children's production of Annie. A report from the Knoxville News Sentinel states that when police entered Jim Adkisson's home they found books by Michael Savage, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly.

"Inside the house, officers found "Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder" by radio talk show host Michael Savage, "Let Freedom Ring" by talk show host Sean Hannity, and "The O'Reilly Factor," by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly."

The article goes on to explain Adkisson's motivation for the attack which he revealed to Steve Sills, a Knoxville Police Officer.

"Adkisson targeted the church, Still wrote in the document obtained by WBIR-TV, Channel 10, "because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of media outlets."

1. I just can't get OVER this.

Okay, so the economy is down. The liberals are in church, where their kids are singing Annie, the story of a poor little girl in the great depression dreaming of getting adopted. The guy reading the conservative trash comes in with a shot gun and starts killing them all because he doesn't have a job.

Can we see that there is a cultural fucking problem here? I mean a real fucking problem? Jesus h. Christ.

5. I don't see a big difference between him and Tim McVeigh.
It's just that McVeigh expressed his hatred, rage, and despair on a larger scale.

We absolutely have a cultural problem. It's just not new.

7. I see McVeigh as more of a free thinker.
Murderer all the same, but he really acted pretty independently and according to his own rationality: He bombed the federal agency he saw as responsible for the deaths at Waco. Attacking federal agents for the acts of their agency is much less of a stretch than attacking people in a church watching their kids sing "little orphan Annie" because "the liberals" are "screwing up the country". This guy was responding to what he was told.

9. I disagree about McVeigh. He was part of a white supremacist group.
McVeigh read The Turner Diaries and lived with white supremacists. They helped him plan his big moment. Considering that the federal employees in Oklahoma City were involved with community health care, it's difficult to see the connection to Waco (I thought that was the Dept. of Justice and Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms). I think that was a convenient excuse. Did the babies in the daycare center in Oklahoma cause Waco?

Right-wing hatred leading to death and destruction is not new. It goes on and on and on.

11. Thank you for that info. I still believe that McVeigh was motivated by white supremacist propaganda

12. He was, it was just a little less direct.
If I know McVeigh's scene, he probably saw the ATF siege on Waco as the advent of military (rather than police) operations on the US population, the beginning of somebody like ZOG or leftists trying to begin a dictatorship. So he retaliated.

All I'm saying though is that he had his own cracked out nazi reasoning, and you can see how he came it with it on his own. Like Al Qaeda hitting the WTC, its a plausible conclusion of their reasoning. The reasoning that leads a person to attack a church with kids singing little ophan Annie because he's jobless I cannot follow, that is some kool-aid shit. And the fact that we have these pundits preaching this same kool-aid stained nonsense against liberals on a nightly basis definately makes me raise an eyebrow.

14. It sounds like we mostly agree. I think that this most recent mass murder
was driven mostly by racism and the freaked-out fear of an unstable person that we will soon have a black president.

I absolutely agree that O'Reilly, (Savage) Weiner, Hannity, Coulter, and all the other "main-stream" talking heads promote hatred toward liberals and racism against anyone of color on a daily basis. They are hired to do so by the corporate-owned media as part of a propaganda campaign to discredit progressive views and critical thinking. Their goal is to keep a large percentage of the population in a state of blind hatred against anyone suggesting that corporatism is not ideal, to defuse any possibility of a progressive uprising in this country.

However, the O'Reillys are only the tip of the iceberg. Beneath them are the white supremacist movements, which have expanded greatly since 2000. The Southern Poverty Law Center monitors hate groups and hate crimes. Take a look at their website at http://www.splcenter.org/ I contribute every month to support the SPLC. Everybody should support them.

I think that when the entire four-page "manifesto" of the Knoxville murderer is released, we will see that his main motivation was racism.

3. Its hate speech and there is a serious problem:
I was listening to some guys in McDonalds the other day, old guys. They were talking about how the whole country will go down if Obama gets elected, no more constitution. They were praising God and talking like some mix between mujahadeen and right wing talking heads, serious about "America" making its last stand, and them with it. I thought they were crazy, but in light of this I wonder how many more people are planning extreme acts "to protect America from being taking over". These guys are living in fucking lala land and its these pundits who built it.

6. EVERY time I hear a nutbag (usually an older American or some guy or gal in an SUV/truck lol)
who says that the country is going to go down the tubes/shitter/black hole if Barack gets in I say - WAKE UP - we already ARE in the shitter - tens of millions have or are in the process of losing their homes, have already LOST their jobs, and are struggling to pay for electricity, gas and food for heaven's sake - if B*sh gave a DAMN about you he would have stayed on track in Afghanistan, and stopped bending over for OPEC and the corporations!

I'm not kidding... I say nearly every bit of that... they aggravate me so much... just start memorizing it! We spend nearly 10 BILLION a month on Iraq - such a disgusting fact!

I realize there's millions struggling right now, and it's getting worse REALLY by the hour - it's 'scary', for sure, but we're gonna get on enough people to change this country!

13. Good for you! I usually don't.
Its the alieness of it. Its sort of paralyzing. I can argue easily with somebody who sees things a *little* differently than me, but when I can't see their reasoning at all I don't even know where to start.

4. look at the hate that's been unleashed on judges by the rw and how many of them have
had to hire body guards and extra security for their court rooms, how many dead people will be enough for someone to finally do something about hate speech?

16. Seriously, though, have the authors of these books had ANYTHING to
say about the murderer having evidently been a fan of theirs?
