BTW, I read books by liberals and they inspire me to go out and do things too.... |
|
- Like help others less fortunate
- Recycle and conserve energy
- Peacefully Protest corrupt governments
- Volunteer for local activites
- Understand people who aren't like me and find ways to make us all equal
What have liberal authors inspired you to do?

1. Not so much liberal authors |
|
because I don't have a ton of time to read for pleasure, but liberal people in my own life have inspired me to continue to help the homeless and the hungry. I volunteer at the food pantry.
Also, trying desperately to reduce our carbon footprint.

understand that I as an individual am not the center of the universe and that my life is better when _everyone's_ life is better.

7. I really did not need any books to inspire me. |
|
As far back as I can remember, I have been liberal. I always seemed to understand that many were less fortunate than me, and that I needed to do what I could for them.
We were eating dinner one night, as my dad was describing what a rough time one of his coworkers was having. My folks did not have the means to help him. I cracked open my bank, and gave it to my father to help him out. I was probably about 5 or 6. Even back then, having money and things was not a big deal to me.
I have come to believe that the tendency to be a Liberal or a Conservative is something one is born with.

9. I get to read great liberal writers almost every day in the NY Times, on blogs |
|
and here at DU. I have been inspired to write to my Congressman and Senators at least once a month, to volunteer for charitable causes as well as political causes, take a job coordinating other volunteers (it pays so poorly it almost qualifies as a volunteer gig in itself, but that's not the point) in my community, walk to work and to shopping, use only one tank of gasoline per month (10 gallon tank!), adopt rescued animals, mentor at-risk teenagers, protest the War in Iraq, write about my yellow-dog Democrat roots, and live a happy life knowing that I am doing everything I can possibly do to make the world a better place for others to raise their children. I'll do more as soon as I can think of something else, or am inspired by a suggestion from some other liberal person.

15. Liberals also don't shoot up medical facilities or health care facilities. |
|
In fact, I can't think of a single act of domestic terrorism carried out by a liberal. Anyone care to correct me?
