I bet republicans don't turn on their own (Stevens) as fast as our ethics choir does on Dems |
|
Spitzer wasn't even indicted and I think there were calls on this board for his public flogging.

1. Are you suggesting that Democrats should |
|
turn a blind eye, make excuses, or rationalize ethics violation because the violator, or the alleged violator, is a Democrat?
That would make us as hypocritical as Republicans. Is that what you want?
Do we excuse Bush and Cheney, and allow them to place blame on their underlings?
I, for one, do not want Democrats to be the same as Republicans.

2. And you think this is bad because... |
|
I want all of them (Dem's, Repug's, whatever's...) to be held to a much higher level then the last 7 years.

Spitzer visited a prostitute, and was possibly brought down in an attempt to keep him from getting in the way of the Bear Stearns bailout. Stevens is charged with corruption.
I support law and order and am perfectly happy for democrat William Jefferson to go to prison for taking bribes. But you can't compare Spitzer and Stevens anymore than you can compare Clinton (lying about a blowjob) with Bush (lying about torture, war, 9/11, vote fraud, etc).
Besides Republicans, by leaning authoritarian, tend to have an aura of self righteousness that makes them oblivious to their own crimes and bad behavior. Look at O'Reilly or Savage as an example. Liberals tend not to be oblivious to our own shortcomings. So we hold ourselves to a higher standard. Which is fine by me, as long as someone/anyone is also holding the right wing to account as well. When you have a situation like we do where the self righteous right wing controls most of the levers of power then you are in trouble.

7. I have news for you Bill Jefferson will be re-elected and will be going back to Congress |
|
You seem to have forgot the word allegedly in regards to the charges against Jefferson. I'm sure that was an honest mistake on your part.

Seeing how several people associated with him went to jail (aides and CEOs) for corruption, and they found thousands of dollars hidden in his house that is fairly strong evidence.
To my knowledge, this isn't a Siegelman case. Jefferson seems to have engaged in corruption.

5. first of all, you might have a hard time finding many republicans... |
|
that think tedthatbridgegoessomewherestevens has done anything wrong...
second of all, i don't want anything to do with how the repukes conduct business...they have done things 'their way' for the past 12+ years...and while they have admittedly raped the treasury, where has it gotten them?...
no, thanks....
