So What Exactly Happens when a Senator is Indicted? |
|
Does he actually get arrested? Is he served papers and given instructions? What happens?

20. 7 convictions or 7 indictments? |
|
I think its 7 indictments. Those are felony charges, I don't know if you can run for Senator with felony indictments. I think the ethics committee surely would have taken care of it if a conviction had taken place.

Duh. I read it that Stevens already had 7 convictions. I didn't realize that you were talking about other people. Thanks for explaining. :hi:

They know better than to protect a dirty politician. It will be just like the way they let Duke Cunningham go down.

12. I don't know anything about bail. As far as I know, all it means is |
|
that he will NOT be cuffed and frog marched! I THINK bail doesn't come into play until he attends a hearing and a judge will make that decision.

18. AFAIK Gov. Siegelman was cuffed at his hearing, not right after an indictment. |
|
I know what you're saying though. The Gov. was carted off from the courthouse and not offered bail. I'll be very surprised if that happens to Stevens for a number of reasons.

13. he loses his leadership positions, if convicted Senate can expel him |
|
or censure him. But the indictment itself results in loss of leadership positions.
Lott a few years back tried to change that when he was indicted. Or was it Delay? I get those crooks mixed up. But they didn't change it, or changed it back once the dems were in charge.
