Lesbian couple has quadruplets. As two sets of twins!
Lesbian IVF couple who shared eggs both give birth to twins on the same day - giving them quads

Meet the two sets of twins - who are really quadruplets!

Same sex couple Karen Wesolowski and Martha Padgett each gave birth to two babies - on the same day.

The babies are related because they were created from Martha's eggs and donor sperm - but two embryos were implanted in each woman.

'My clock was ticking,' said Karen, 42, a physiotherapist. 'We had been trying on and off for three years and we were exhausted.

'We had tried using my eggs and a sperm donor, we had tried using Martha's eggs in me. We had literally tried everything.

'We had tens of thousands of dollars on treatment.

'So when, last November, Martha said to me we should both have HER eggs implanted, I thought why not?'

Now the pair, of Riverside, California, are happily cradling twins - one boy and one girl each - who are all quadruplet brothers and sisters.

Martha, 38, gave birth first to babies Sophia and Alex, and Karen gave birth 22 hours later to their siblings Andrew and Sienna.

5. i find tens of thousands of dollars spend in IVF fairly selfish
no matter the sexual orientation of the couple in question.

8. Then, my suggestion to you
is to not have it IVF yourself. Somehow I doubt that you have any official authority to criticize this couple for how they've chosen to spend their money.

9. did i say i have "official authority"? and what does that even mean?
if people here critize the family of 18 (jim bob or whatever) because they are squandering the earths resources etc, i'd like to know how this is any different

11. You are so unpredictable!
And I agree. What that money could do for chidren who need help or adopting. If only I had some sort of official authority to criticise them...

19. somewhat the same. somewhat not. designer bags will not use up more resources
in the future, multiple children will.

maybe its because i am from the third world, where one experiences first hand what happens due to overpopulation.

20. I get it. You have a unique (to DU) perspective. Do you have any children?
I aske b/c I felt the same, to some extent -- never desperately wanted kids the way most women seem to long for them -- too pragmatic for that fantasy b.s., I guess...but now I have 2 daughters and I s'pose I understand the longing-for-kids a bit better, now.

What I still don't get is the aversion people seem to have to adopting.

21. thats my point.
why not adopt a child instead of spending thousands, risking multiple births (ivf has high chances of twins etc) etc?

in a few (read 6-7 years) i want to adopt a little girl
