But I got a chuckle from that. Felt it here in Palm Springs for 15 seconds. Hope everyone is O.K.

4. HUGE!!! Reporting in from Woodland Hills, San Fernando Valley. |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 01:45 PM by kestrel91316
Lasted 20-30 seconds, major shaker.
No damage here, but some places nearby could have had stuff off shelves. Biggest by far since Northridge, on par with our big aftershocks from it.

but I'm in San Diego and it was much milder here. The windows rattled for about 15 seconds and I felt a horizontal motion of the floor, but not enough to make me lose my footing.

started some kind of major evangelism by blaming the quake on sin. So, there is a tradition.

28. A lot of people in the city thought it was the end of the world. |

They assumed the devastation must be global- and because all the lines of communication were effectively cut off, it was weeks before many of them heard otherwise.

It was a different kind for us.. Usually we get the Boom, clink-clink-clink-shudder-shake styles.. this one was a rock & rolling side-to-side slider :)

Our building is on rollers, so it was shake, rattle, and a California ROLL. :D
Afterwards, I swapped stories of the 6.8 Nisqually quake in WA I went through back in February 2001, with the 1994 Northridge veterans from here. :-)
