catastrophe and Stevens will fade into the consultant/corporate world with nary a backward look. In this world of instant communications and 30-second attention spans, only those stories that are deemed worthwhile by and useful to those who run things will receive more than brief notice. We fall into the trap by trumpeting every little story and poll and rumor as the mosr significant event of our time. And nothing changes but the minute details.
