O’Reilly: Richest 1% would have to finance ‘folks who…smoke reefers 24/7.’»

Today, in an Washington Times op-ed, Bill O’Reilly complains that if President Bush’s tax cuts “on those making $250,000 or more” are repealed, “me and other rich folks” would have to finance “folks who dropped out of school, who are too lazy to hold a job, who smoke reefers 24/7.” He adds, “I am part of the 1 percent of Americans that paid an astounding 40 percent of all federal income tax in 2006,” But, as the Wall Street Journal recently noted, “the average tax rate of the wealthiest 1% fell to its lowest level in at least 18 years.” The Wonk Room has more here.

1. Bill Clinton's time limit on welfare checks...
...doesn't stop conservatives like Bill O'Reilly as portraying welfare as something which lasts forever.

If Obama changes Social Security so that is has more money coming in, conservatives will still portray Social Security as going bankrupt. I'd prefer no changes to Social Security in the next ten years.

5. ....and providing reefer 24/7 for everyone would be
a heck of a lot cheaper and more effective than dealing with the bloodbath that is sure to follow.

Seriously, one must think about what to do with all the "useless eaters". Technology is such that productive capacity greatly outstrips our capacity for consumption (especially with a severely skewed income distribution) Jeremy Rifkin wrote a book in the 1990's called "The End of Work" which envisioned a world where a large part of the population were not needed for productive capacity. The inevitable truth is we as a nation have to figure out how to deal with this reality.

We can improve the situation by redistributive policies and policies that encourage birth control.... or we can demonize those who fail to survive economic darwinism and desensitize people to the cruelties involved in instant depopulation and slavery....Oreilly and most of the country seem to be taking the second option.

15. As Snoop likes to say
"Fuck Bill O'Reilley"

A bunch of us who "smoke reefers" have been subsidizing the richest 1% for a long time. Billo needs to go get a real job for a while and find out what it is like to do actual work for a living instead of sitting around telling lies....:grr:
