McCain praises Pelosi as an "effective leader". They can both go pound sand, imo.
Republican Sen. John McCain, engaged in increasingly sharp attacks on rival Barack Obama, pledged that if elected president, he would work closely with Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, praising her as an effective leader and an "inspiration to millions of Americans."

1. Because he's not running against her for President.
You can take it to the bank that if Pelosi were a candidate he'd be screaming about her awful legislative record, the fact that she's unpopular even among Democrats, etc.

3. That's the straw that broke the camel's back.. Pelosi's a "has been" in my book,
and I hope and pray that the good people of her district will make her a "has been" in congress too.

15. an empty quote by a desperate, phony republican candidate is your "last straw?"
you should base your decisions on more firm grounds, in my humble opinion.

4. In all fairness, she has been a most effective Democratic Speaker of the United States House
Representatives from the perspective of the Bush Crime Family.

6. It is really obvious that McCain doesn't know what is going on...
Nancy Pelosi is not an effective leader and she is not an inspiration to very many.. she is aiding and abetting the criminals in the white house.. You know when you impede investigations and make it harder for police or investigators to do their job, they can charge you with crimes.. Unfortunately, the police don't arrest the one's who need to be held accountable the most.. wish they could think outside the box.. and hadn't been so trained with a mentality that they are "special" and everyone is suspect. Perhaps then, they would act for citizen's best interests.

14. they're on opposite sides
on defining issues in the class war, Bush's tax cuts and Social Security for example, McCain and Pelosi are on opposite sides.

16. pelosi believes the way for the elite to maintain power is
to make the underclass somewhat more comfortable, while bush et al take a more ruthless approach to ruling

nevertheless, they both work to protect their class's wealth, power and position

her loyalty to bush, the fellow member of her class, outweighs her duty to the constitution (which, after all, IS the people)

17. she's currently resisting pressure to allow offshore drilling
directly opposing Bush.

I'm supporting her, contacting congressmen, especially the republican one representing my Florida district, who is on Pelosi's side and may flip due to the massive pressure. Gov. Crist just flipped.

This is a fight we could lose (using "we" assuming most of us are against such drilling).

18. I didn't say she IS bush
just a member of the same class.

are you kidding? we will lose this one. With no one holding him accountable, george and his buddies will continue escalating their rape of America right through January of 2009, longer if, as seems more and more likely, McBush "wins" in November.

11. evil twins of liberalism
drive the talk radio crowd nuts? That's like driving McCain old.

His praise for two Democrats who are regularly in the bull's-eye of the conservative talk radio and the right-wing blogosphere is likely to draw fire from Republican loyalists, who consider Pelosi and Gore to be the evil twins of liberalism.

"It drives the talk radio crowd nuts when McCain does not wage war on Pelosi and Gore," said Hoover Institution media fellow Bill Whalen. McCain, he said, likely was trying to reach out to moderate and independent voters during his San Francisco visit.
