In Contempt Vote on Karl Rove, the Ayes Have It
By Kate Klonick - July 30, 2008, 10:50AM

The House Judiciary Committee has just voted to hold Karl Rove in contempt for failing to respond to a subpoena to the committee.

The final vote was 20 ayes and 14 nays. With Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) voting "absolutely, 100% aye."

1. They need to quit screwing around with these people, and arrest them!
I'm fed up with it, as are most Americans. Is it any wonder this Congress has such low ratings? They aren't doing anything except enabling Bushco, and allowing Bushco to push them around.

This Congress is making their governmental branch obsolete due to their inaction and failure to support the Constitution. It's not an option for them, it's something they MUST DO, and they aren't doing it.

Arrest the @ssholes and thrown their slimy butts in the House jail! After a few days on bread and water, maybe they'll start talking!

2. They're going to give him contemptuous looks now
and perhaps snub him.

Maybe a committee member will sneak a whoopie cushion under his seat one of these days.

:scared:

11. Hell, I wouldn't doubt that they'd go so far as to give him a verbal warning.
They're not playing around this time.

3. And this compels Rove to do what?
He ignored the subpoena, as usual. What does the contempt charge do?

6. They need to set-up a page on their website where people can volunteer...
... to be deputized into The Sargent-at-Arms so they can arrest KKKarl Rove.

12. My feelings exactly
Apparently there are 14 committee members who feel that their subpoenas can just be blown off if the person served doesn't wanna show up. Remember, Rove didn't appear and refuse to answer any questions, he just plain ignored the subpoena entirely. And there are 14 congress critters who think that's just fine.

They won't do another damn thing, but those strongly worded warnings are scaring the bejesus out of KKKarl.

10. Then arrest him-- immediately.
And don't expect Mukassey to do it, because he's already said he won't.

They should've begun impeachment proceedings against Mukassey the moment he refused to fill his Constitutional role.

13. "It was unclear whether Speaker Nancy Pelosi would allow a vote on it."
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h-he8f7AdVl4IRQAEFnivpPn6HOAD9284AVO0

If approved by the House subcommittee, the contempt citation against Rove would move to the full House. It was unclear whether Speaker Nancy Pelosi would allow a vote on it. Earlier this year, the House approved contempt citations against two Bush confidants — White House counsel Josh Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet Miers — who likewise refused to comply with their subpoenas. The House then filed suit against the two, which is still pending in federal court.

Regardless of the outcome, if the judge wades into the dispute, Bush will be out of office before it's resolved.

this is a hell of a way to wake up this morning. Oh happy day in America, we KNOW they are ALL contemptous bastards, what's the hold up?

oh, yea...the police are only there to arest Liberals, don't you know? and the guy that shot those people in the church will be aquitted, right?
edit to add: didn't the people who tried to citizens arrest Rove get arrested by the Boys in Blue? ya, serve & protect WHO?
I used to lke cops, as long as I needed their help with my abusive hubby, they were great...now I think I would be on the other side of that coin, because I am surely on their LIBERAL attack list!

Fascism is alive & well, my friends. I fear it will take more than an election to get our country back from these corrupt assholes...and pelosi is aiding & abetting ...among others.

23. Karl is going over to Harriet Miers' house as I type
and they are both having a big laugh.

Inherent Contempt or its just a dog and pony show.

February 15, 2008
On a 223 to 32 vote, the House approved contempt citations against White House Chief of Staff Joshua B. Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet E. Miers over their refusal to cooperate with an investigation into the mass firings of U.S. attorneys and allegations that administration officials sought to politicize the Justice Department.

24. Nothing will happen
Nothing will happen even if the full House votes on it. Won't it just get referred to Mukasey, who will refuse to do anything about it (like Miers and Bolten)?

I'm glad the Judiciary did what they needed to do :woohoo:, but holy cripes, it's impossible to get past all the corrupt bastards associated with the so-called Executive Branch. :banghead:

(Mental note: adding Mukasey to the tar-n-feathers list...)
