Politicians are as afraid of the NRA as they are of Dobson's Focus on the Family. More rightwing minority opinions are being considered as more important than majority opinion.

...of journalism that says "give" both sides of the story despite how many people may support one view over the other.
It's kinda like how the GOP-controlled media always mention the "doubt" regarding global warming in every global warming news story, even though no real scientist doubts global warming.
