Continued filibustering by the oil industry whores, the Repukes!

I've been checking in on CSpan at the US Senate for the last week in hopes that the speculation bill put forward by the Dems might pass. Not only will it not pass, but Reid doesn't have enough votes for cloture. So day after day the Repukes whine about drilling our way out of this, knowing it will be maybe ten years before it gets to market, and then we don't have enough refining capacity anyway. It makes me wonder why that message doesn't get out? Maybe it would help to have Hillary and Obama taking part in this. I haven't heard any speeches to help the Senate get passage on this speculation bill, which could be very effective in getting some short term relief on gas prices. Where's the leadership on this? A few months ago I thought there would be no way the Democrats would manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, as they have in the past. But now I wonder, could it happen again?
