Kerry To Ride Part Of Pan Mass. For Kennedy

BOSTON (WBZ) ―

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry said he will ride this year's Pan Mass. Challenge
to raise money for cancer research in honor of Sen. Ted Kennedy, who was diagnosed
with a brain tumor in May.

Kerry, who has been riding in the in the 190-mile bike race for six years, will
bike 110 miles on Saturday in Kennedy's name.

Over 5,000 people will take part in this year's ride. All the proceeds will benefit
the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Kennedy completed his last day of radiation and chemotherapy last week.

The senator was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor after suffering from a seizure
at his Cape Cod home on May 17.

3. I think it's pretty cool he's going to bike 110 miles!!
That's admirable! I couldn't do it.

We do seem to have a good bunch in MA, representing us in DC and in the state house. ;)

4. I hope he's been training
attempting a century ride without some training is not a good idea

6. He did 90 miles of the same event last year
He's an avid cyclist. Unlike Bush, Kerry can stay upright on his bike for long stretches.

7. I've done many 100+ mile rides and am about Kerry's age
but I couldn't just hop on my bike and do one if I had not been building up to it by doing a bunch of 50+ mile rides first. Even if your cardiovascular fitness is there, there is something about the effect of a bike seat pressing on your butt for hours that you have to prepare for.
