Why in the hell did this whole "Bigfoot" hoax get so much media coverage? |
|
Seriously - front page of CNN.com? A live news conference on CNN? Before this alleged Bigfoot has even been independently verified? I can understand a couple of local news organizations picking up on this, and the usual crypto websites. But CNN? Jiminy cricket...
I guess there really aren't any other pressing issues going on right now?

3. Aren't there a couple of wars somewhere? |
|
I guess people love that big ole ape. He's always gotten more copy than anything important. It sort of says something about the intelligence of the average joe. People who can't find Iraq on a map and don't know it's an election year will talk about this crap at work! :puke:

I don't have a TV these days, so I miss all sorts of stuff.
And it's mostly for the better.

7. CNN has been deteriorating ever since |
|
Ted Turner sold it and it's become what he feared most. It really jumped the shark three years ago, with that whole "runaway bride" bullshit. Remember that chick who went missing a few days before her wedding, Jennifer something? It turns out that she'd skipped town 'cause she didn't want to go through with the wedding but was too chickenshit to call it off in a more dignified manner. That Saturday, the day of the wedding, early in the morning, they finally discovered that she'd cut her hair and skipped town on a bus the Tuesday before. CNN had already spent an inordinate amount of time on this bullshit "news" during the week.
They then spent that ENTIRE fucking Saturday on it, chronicling her family's and fiance's reactions and communications with her and her return journey, even sending a reporter to accompany her on her plane ride home. The ENTIRE fucking day, nothing else. But that also happened to be the day that there were coordinated suicide bombings and attacks all throughout Iraq, the country was in flames, and nary one fucking word of coverage. No, it was all that "runaway bride" bullshit. Not to even mention the total lack of attention paid to hundreds of truly legitimate missing persons cases.
I couldn't believe it at the time, but have sadly come to realize that that is the way CNN now is, along with most of the other cable "news" channels. I remember the old CNN, the way it used to be, especially its incredible, amazing live coverage of Tienanman Square, including a producer's firm refusal to stop filming in the face of demands from Chinese officials. But that was then and this is now. And oh, how the mighty have fallen!

no one was going to take it seriously and sometimes it's nice to have something you can laugh at just to take a break from all the bad that goes on in the world.
Least that's how it felt to me today.

Rachel even covered it on Countdown this evening. she had the guys on - they're pretty funny.
there are pressing issues - but having a laugh is important too. "body of bigfoot in a cooler in a safehouse somewhere..." not even a stifled giggle, PIB? c'mon...

19. Heh. It *does* make sense, as the McCain/Bigfoot ticket might satisfy the freeper |
|
contingency. As long as it's the McCain/"Bigfoot" ticket and not one of those exotic, commie, illegals like the Yeti, Sasquatch or a Canuck like the Abominable Snowman. Hopefully he wasn't born in Panama or Hawaii, so we can forgo any "natural born" issues. I look forward to reading bigfoot's manifesto. Perhaps he has a better, more sensible environmental policy to bring to McCain's ticket. :D

20. I saw the Maddow interview with these guys. |
|
She didn't come right out and say it, but she let you easily read between the lines that she thinks its bs. Those guys were so full of it. She came right out and asked them is one of the purposes of doing this to make as much money as possible (like some other guy at the conference said). One the guys said, oh yes.
These idiots didn't even have any scientific evidence ready to present, they said they had the body hidden and no one can see it, that they told lies earlier to throw off internet stalkers, and on and on. It's a nice distraction, but let's not fall for this again.
