Poll question: According to the linked article, President Bush has apparently...
...sought to "make war powers permanent, by declaring indefinite state of war." Do you believe the fact that he would quietly be pursuing this so late in his second term is any cause for alarm?

And secondly, do you expect Congress to rubber stamp this request?

The article at Raw Story:

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Bush_seeks_to_institutionalize_war_powers_0830.html

------------------------------------------------

Some sample reader commentary on this article:

From Raw poster, Gene: He would only plan to do this if he plans to be President after January.

From Raw poster, Getaclue: #1 now you're cooking with gas. Let's face it, given McPOW's veep choice, can you now all see this "election" is nothing but a sideshow? Wait till the international bankers CRASH and COLLAPSE the US economy in September....it's coming then martial law, elections cancelled. Cheney/Chimpy aint goin nowhere. No one spends 40 years amassing dictatorial powers and then steps aside.

From Raw poster, Sam:I have said since 2000 that Bush/Cheney aren't about to go anywhere. I'll believe it when I see it that they are physically leaving in January. Why would they put something in place such as Directive 51 with no intention of ever using it?

Do you really think they stole 2 presidential "elections" just to walk away and willingly hand their Dictatorship over to someone else? I-don't-think-so, unless that person has adamantly agreed to continue it.

Did all of you delusional Dem koolaid drinkers who live under the illusion that your lord and saviour Obama is somehow going to reverse what Bush has put in place, did you also believe that the Dems were going to do a 180 overnight after the 2006 "election" and stop enabling Bush?

Did you also say that Pelosi was not serious when she said "impeachment is off the table?"

Did you also rattle off this long laundry list of what Pelosi and the Dems were supposedly going to do for you/us after the 2006 "election?"

As we can see, you were flat-out WRONG about ALL of your delusional wishful-thinking statements. NONE OF IT HAS HAPPENED.

But you don't learn.

Your false hope and Denial prevents you from learning from the past. Many people still don't seem to understand and grasp what these Bush regime people are about. Now with your false hope and Denial, you're expecting pro-war, pro-corporate, pro-Bush Walk On Water Obama to reverse the Bush Dictatorship even though he has helped put it in place, most recently with his yes vote on FISA which shreds the US Constitution.

That Dem koolaid is some strong stuff!
