The Council For National Policy Meets In Minn, Vets Palin
By Max Blumenthal Mon Sep 01, 2008 at 02:48:46 AM EST print story
Last week, while the media focused almost obsessively on the DNC's spectacle in Denver, the country's most influential conservatives met quietly at a hotel in downtown Minneapolis to get to know Sarah Palin. The assembled were members of the Council for National Policy, an ultra-secretive cabal that networks wealthy right-wing donors together with top conservative operatives to plan long-term movement strategy.
CNP members have included Tony Perkins, James Dobson, Grover Norquist, Tim LaHaye and Paul Weyrich. At a secret 2000 meeting of the CNP, George W. Bush promised to nominate only pro-life judges; in 2004, then-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist told the group, "The destiny of the nation is on the shoulders of the conservative movement." This year, thanks to Sarah Palin's selection, the movement may have finally aligned itself behind the campaign of John McCain.

1. The "vetting" consisted of what? Handling serpents & rattling bones?
Don't these people ever read?

2. I knew I smelled La Haye and Dobson in this one
just like we all knew Magoo didn't have anything to do with picking this character. She was picked for him by a bunch of bible beaters, the same bible beaters who chose Stupid.

At least now it's confirmed and I can loosen the tinfoil on my head.

Let's hope this is the dying gasp of their influence in politics, a choice of candidate so appallingly inappropriate that GOPs rebel and the party is humiliated at the polls.

I know, dream on. But it's a damn good dream.

3. This is a very dangerous group.
Extremely well financed, and well placed in the conservative (theo-fascist) movement, and they still exert quite a bit of power in republican politics.

6. The best part about them is that they're all getting OLD
and like their leader, Moon, their time on this earth is extremely limited. The younger generation who will squabble over the empire don't have the charisma of the old guard and will be highly unlikely to rally the fascist troops.

This too shall pass and quite soon. Anybody who's ever been constipated will tell you it always passes, although it's uncomfortable until it happens.

7. Misleading headline.
Some religous conservatives watched Sarah Palin speak on TV as she debuted as the VP nominee.

They didn't "vet" her.

They watched a speech on TV after she was chosen and decided to support her.
