Good for Bristol.

And I hope she has 10 or 15 more babies after this one.

12. Making this about Obama
is ridiculous. Who knows what Obama would have done. Bringing him into the discussion is just a diversionary tactic.

14. McCain camp's claims about "liberal blogs, some with Obama's name in them" is already doing this.
They're going to try and tar Obama with something he had nothing to do with.

16. When it's them, they are perfectly reasonable....

What they have got to realize, and where we have got to come together on this is that:

YES - teenagers get pregnant. Teenagers have always gotten pregnant, and teenagers will always get pregnant.

If the teenager is a semi-celebrity - rich slut.

If the teenager is poor - welfare queen.

If the teenager has a Christian family that can support her - honorable and noble choice.

Nobody needs to change their religious beliefs to simply see the pragmatic value in:

1. Making sure that teens know where babies come from and how not to make that happen - *yes including abstinence*

2. Making sure we have an accessible health care system in which that choice can be meaningfully exercised.

One of the dumbest things I saw recently was someone saying "abstinence doesn't work". Hell yes it works. What doesn't "work" is "abstinence ONLY education". That's freaking doomed. There are plenty of teens that don't have sex. That's great. There are plenty of teens who avail themselves of ways to avoid pregnancy if they do have sex. That's also great.

But it is morally vacuous to praise anyone's "noble choice" while seeking to eliminate the very ability to exercise that choice.

What I want to see is for these idjits to turn around and deny the top notch health care that THIS family is going to get, to any other family in the same situation.

Denying teens access to health education and health care is the real sin.

One set of rules for us, another set for them. And they get to change either set or both any time they feel like it.

Now do you understand.....?! ;)
