I keep hearing about Downs Syndrome babies |
|
It is a complex decision to keep a child with a genetic defect, especially if you have other children and a high voltage career. I've heard several women call in to talk shows and share how they really had to make a full time commitment to staying home with a Downs Syndrome child after it was born to make sure it would have a good quality of life. So while Palin make consider herself noble for deciding not to abort the child, this is really only the first step. I know we can't walk in someone elses shoes but we live in a day when so much information and help is available, and I just don't know how anyone can make this work. This baby deserves to be more than a campaign prop.

2. Anti-choicers only care that the baby is born, not what happens to it afterward. |

3. There is plenty of information available on Downs Syndrome. |
|
For starters, the name itself refers to a range of characteristics. "Range" is the key word; people with the syndrome are not all the same and do not all need the same type/level of care.
