Comments/Threads on this board are indicative of why WE ALWAYS LOSE

Instead of focusing on a central message or substantive attacks on issues that people vote on, we try to find some faux smoking gun on an issue no one cares about. In 2000 it was Bush's DUI. In 2004, his National Guard Medical records and Cheney's daughter's Lesbianism.

NO ONE CARES. NOBODY.

When Clinton won in 1992, he transformed the campaign as a referendum on the Economy (ie: "It's the Economy Stupid"). You combine that with Change vs More of the same, which is a message that has won in jurisdictions all over the Western World, you have a winning campaign.

People don't vote on Vice-President's spouses or daughters. They vote on the Presidential candidate, hi or her character, and on big, macro, theme issues (not specific policies). Thus, this is where you have to hit McCain if we want to win.

LIKE I SAID IN ANOTHER POST, NONE OF THIS PALIN CRAP MATTERS. We have to figure out how to add 18 more electoral votes to Kerry's 252. That's it. End of Story. We do that, we save Roe V. Wade, Stem Cell Research and the hope for Universal Health Care. Not to mention the lives and well being of so many military families.

we do not want Obama in the muck that is what WE are for...we get to wallow in the mud and rake the muck as much as we can and hope it goes viral, all the while Obama can focus on policy and getting HIS message out there. I would not support him if he were wallowing in the muck...but then I would never run for president either!!!

12. And Republicans have not been exploiting Obama's past affiliations and statements?
We lose when we "take the high road" (Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry) and win when we give as good as we get (Clinton). Newt Gingrich resigned only when he learned that Larry Flynt was about to release the story about Gingrich's infidelity. Bob Livingstone followed suit. Getting into the mud is the only way to beat these guys!

The elections? We didn't lose in 2000 or 2004. They were stolen out from under us.

15. I generally agree with you.
Our heads get turned by everything the MSM puts out and we don't focus on the issues that really matter.

The irony of it all is how we criticize the MSM while at the same time participating in their shenanigans.

Don't you care about who the next Vice President is? Don't you want to know who she is? Why does John McCain leave it up to the American people to do his vetting? The American people have been on the losing end for a long time now. And it isn't because we have been asking questions.

P.S. Although there are prominent insinuations that not having posted much on DU is evidence of insufficient wisdom and a reason to be ignored, I believe that the silent majority is willing to listen to you.

19. More and more, these so-called New Democrats are an embarassment
I hope I'm wrong but if this keeps up, we are going to lose again, HARD. Not everyone is a hard core liberal or Democrat. Elections are won by middle America. Keep this up and they will see us as a bunch of sexist, whining idiots and will vote for the other guy.

24. Stop with the personal attacks

It makes the rest of us true Democrats look like pricks. Obama himself said that family should be off limits. Don't you morons realize the more you attack her family, the more people will sympathize for her? I want us to win this election so bad and idiots like yourselves will drive the women here into voting for Palin.
