Do you have checkpoints?

I live in the NW corner of Washington State. The Dept. of Homeland Security is starting to position checkpoints where cars are pulled over so the occupants can be evaluated for being possible terrorists, illegal immigrants or criminals. The checkpoints are set up for hours at a time at three locations. There are very few roads in this rural area so they could do a pretty comprehensive sweep. We are across the water from Canada - a large and formidable strait actually.

I can't believe this is happening. Is this happening in other communities as well? Are people living near the Canadian border having similar experiences?

I'll be contacting my senators and congressman but am wondering if this is occuring anywhere else.

5. I've been dealing with checkpoints for 30+ yrs.

Every time I return home from a shopping trip to Las Cruces, I go through a Border Patrol checkpoint, been that way for years.

I've heard about DUI checkpoints in Minnesota, but I've never experienced one.
